Simon, I hate to bust your bubble, but Farragut had big brass ones that clanked when he walked. He was tied to the top of his ship's mainmast when he yelled it down to the helmsman, heading straight up the channel in Mobile Bay, right towards a moored mine (in those days, those were called 'torpedoes' even though they weren't self powered or submarine launched). So it wasn't 'damn the torpedoes' it was 'damn the moored mines' for your post's subject.

Not a bad theme IMO.

Once you discard the whole introspection blather pushed out by the BORG, it got some Fury Road flair to it and a splash of piracy.

Maybe some raids and land grabs will be in order.
