Thanks for posting this Simon. I missed it initially, when it first aired a day or two ago.

David Arquette actually had a heck of a gap in credibility to make up for after winning the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Diamond Dallas Page prior to the absorbtion of WCW into WWE. He played the lead role in the film "Ready to Rumble", which was more or less a poor vehicle to showcase the acting talents (or lack thereof) of members of the WCW roster at the time. Notable in the cast was Martin Landau (anybody remember him frm Space:1999?) who played Sal Bandini in a role reminiscent of Calgary Stampede Wrestling's Stu Hart.

What I found interesting about Arquette is the crazy stuff he did to try to become a real wrestler, including participation in a so-called 'deathmatch'. This harkens back to Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling (a.k.a. FMW) in a series of so-called "deathmatches" in Japan in the 1990s. The most incredible of these bloody battles was fought by Terry Funk and Mick Foley (then known as 'Cactus Jack").Instead of ring ropes, 4-barb barbed wire was used. At the 15- minute mark in the match, charges of the military explosive C-4 were set off at various points on the ring perimeter. Extreme attention to safety has to be adhered to during performances of this type, or a wrestler or spectator will wind up dead.

This type of wrestling match makes what goes on in Thunderdome look like children playing tiddlywinks. Sorry, Deathguild.

Well, when I was at the top of the freeway hill, ready to roll down into the Baltimore tunnel. I was watching smoking transmission fluid, then suddenly I was coasting to a stop, almost to the top of traffic hell. After 1 hour of trying to get a tow truck with no luck, I scream to the top of my lungs, Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!! Then I call 911. 2 hours later I'm dragged to a beautiful park, with an awesome view. That's where I spent the night with a truck full of stuff, and a U-haul trailer with more stuff. I could go on & on.....Long story short!!! I made it to Vermont. "I'm Happy."
