old folks at BRC
Curious as to how old you were when you first burned.
I'm 74 yo and planning first burn in 2021
How old was oldest burner you met?

Hey there, welcome to ePlaya!
Don't worry you'll fit right in. I'm 72, I think I was in my mid 60s for my first couple of burns. And I know a burner that was in her 90s.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Art, welcome to eplaya and the dusty wild world of Burning Man. 74 years old is hardly too old for attending Burning Man. The only thing you should fear is the regret you'll have in 10 years of not having gone. If you're up to it, GO FOR IT. Hey, you may hate it, but at least you'll know.
I hope you got a chance to read up on the preparation for the event. There are links in my signature below. YouTube has countless videos on every aspect of Burning Man, but trust me, they really don't do it justice.
Good luck on your preparation and looking forward to seeing you in the dust in just 8 short months.

Welcome to ePlaya.
There is a huge body of preparation data, and the Burning Man Census provides a view of the demographics. I think this is a fun video about the experiences of an 81 year old.

Burning Man is never too young for Santa!

Santa started participating in 1993, leading to the worldwide SantaCon. So Santa is that math older today.

Paging Unjonharley -- who has been burning since Black Rock Desert was Lake Lahontan, and is now in his mid-80s.

Unjon, taking a break from bicycle repair in a certain bicycle service camp, 2018.
What matters is not chronological age, but whether you were born with the Burning Man gene.
(Me... I am only 69, so don't listen to me yet.)

My first one, I was 62.
I would like to treat my gas pedal as a binary operator and get the cooperation of everyone in front of me!

Saw a couple in their late 80s or early 90s on their first burn, him in a pith helmet, going around grinning ear to ear.

That's one word I regret googling during breakfast.

Video games are giving kids unrealistic expectations on how many swords they can carry.

, but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.

Re: old folks at BRC
I like thinking that attending burning man is in some way transcendental so I look at it as once you attend your 'age' is no longer your default world age (counting the number of times you have been to the burn isn't even productive in that vein) but rather the years since your first burn. Using that math I'm still a youngster as I was 'born in 2009 so I'll be 12 this year, and the grownups are 35 or so.
Re: old folks at BRC
I flunked mathematics in college, but I can go along with the transcendentalism.
Re: old folks at BRC
Heck, I am 67 going on 12.

Do I dare to ask your age? No need to share if you don't want to.
