New Years with Kids
I guess I was a casino bartender too long to appreciate using the word "party" as a verb anymore. Now that I'm out of it, a quiet New Years at home makes me feel successful.
We are absolutely snowed in here in Reno/Sparks, and I'll bet the playa got a good dusting too. Was going to get together with Kernul Killbuck today to check out eachother's artistry but I doubt he can even make it here. Regroup and deploy, Kernul?
Family NYE tradition is to get out a big next year wall callendar and a bunch of colored markers. First we line through all of our vacation days, that feels good. Then work days. Rewrite our family mission statement and put it on the 'fridge. Then we talk about and write our own goals. This year I'll laminate mine and hang them in the shower where my mind tends to wander. Well, maybe not. One thing I learned on the playa this year is the importance of a wandering mind.
When the ball drops in New York (9:00 PM here) we'll do the party favors and toasting, then it's off to bed for the girls... except for my beautiful wife who can hear the snow fall. "Same old face, same old eyes, same old glimpse of paradise" -unknown

Hey, Lurker. Was that a post to me? If so, what makes you go AAAAAAAAH?CoworkerLurker wrote:Giggles- I don't know what to say. It must take nerves of steel. I've never been in quite that situation, but I've had enough of a taste to go AAAAAAAH!
Sorry I can't help any more than that.
So, like, what ARE the new plans for the day?
I've got a rocky hill in my backyard and it is conceivable that this will be the first year ever that we could sled down it without hitting a boulder. Could be fun!

Gigglesnort, you know... goosetape is stronger.
Seriously, I once read a letter by a foster care parent who dealt with a kid with duct tape experience. The kid hit his head in the tub in the foster home- must have hurt like a sonofabitch- but he didn't make a sound. Hate to think how he learned that.
Sorry, can't think of the duct tape/kid thing without thinking of that.
Anyway, hang in there. Make the barbie doll pay!

CWL, that's terrible. I would never really in a million years.......though I admit the nasty little thought does cross my mind......hmmm, but the barbie doll might just have to ......dissappear.......
Actually, salvation is on the way! My mom just called to let me know.....one hour until she arrives to whisk them away!
oooh......I better go wash the dishes or something.....mom's coming!

Actually, duct taping the Barbie might be the way to go... then look significantly at your child and say, "Do you want some of the same treatment?" If she says "Yes!", then you've got a leg to stand on when CPS comes to pay you a visit.CoworkerLurker wrote:Gigglesnort, you know... goosetape is stronger.

The Best of Both Worlds
Tonight, SuXena (pronounced Sue Zee Na) and I (pronounced eye) are swimming on over to the S.F. Sea of Dreams part; Our outfits are over the top; she is an awesome mermaid and I am the (gentle) ocean. Given the grim disaster in Asia, we have a lot of PR work to do. Tomorrow, we are participating in a midsize house party in Berkeley.

Anytime dearie, but you'll have to leave the hot tub before you nap. S'alright though, I have a 6ft bean bag couch in the Green Room with a ton of fluffy green bathrobes for snuggling. We could listen to birds, look up through the roof into the giant maple tree, and watch the branches wave in the wind.GuinivereElise wrote:can I come with, Rob? rehearsal for the NYE gig went unbelievably well. Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You!
Come visit, and we'll go terrorize karaoke somewhere. (The gay bar I normally go to actually has a good crop of singers, you won't have to plug your ears TOO often....)

Anything purple is mine. Anything else can be dyed or painted.

Thanks, Guin. I'm a big Hedwig fan. How 'bout "Wicked Little Town"? That kind of music leaves a stain on your soul.GuinivereElise wrote:oh, it'll be rockin'!

Oi! Yawn... tired and nary a hangover even.
Ms. Guin was fabulous on NYE.. simply smashing.
And there's nothing like filling my shoebox apartment with eplayans on NYD. I think that, despite the midget porn which was inflicted on us, it's the most auspicious start to a new year ever.
Then NYD2 including dinner with RtW and Sensei, throwing in the Seattle Head Hos for drinks at Bleu.
Simply lovely.
Ya'll convinced me to have house parties more often .
Viva la bathrobe!!

But Giggles- few parents haven't fantasized. My ex and I usually talked about tranquilizer dart guns, though.
