Speaking of duets, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss seemed like an unlikely duo to me at the time, but it turned out that they are terrific together.

Thanks. I was unaware of that duet. In return, I offer you a reprise of a Neil Young tune done quite well by a group of artists including an equally talented guitarist:

I dedicate this one to you and all the wonderful people who I have met in Black Rock City. I first became aware of the tune in 1977. The title refers to a particular type of seasonal wind that blow south from France into the Bay of Biscay called a 'mistral', reputed to have mystical and magical powers. The song made one heck of an impression on me when I was younger, searching for meaning in my life and for life and society in general. Indeed, I even wrote my final exam essay on it in an Honors English course (I took a chance, interpreting the professor's written instructions for the essay in comparison and contrast in poetry to include the poetry within music - I ended up with an A+ for the essay and a solid 'A' for the course, Modern Poetry, a senior-level English elective that completed a minor in English for me).
I thought of the song when I first viewed the art car 'Contessa' on the playa. And then it became very clear to me....the 'mistral' of the playa is another hot, dry wind that blows easterly across our playa - the Washoe Zephyr. When I think of the playa today, I remember the words from the song.....
"...Roll me back to that place,
Magic space all through me,
And I sigh your name across the empty waters,
You made a crazy dreamer out of me......."
And I think longingly of home - that shining beacon of hope - Black Rock City.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Maybe it's the loneliness of self-enforced COVID-19 isolation. But somehow, I don't think i'm too far off the mark. And now, for all..

Re: what are you listening to?
Greetings, all.
For me, one of the complex essences of music is whether or not it motivates me in social justice, in an effort to bring attention to modern-day societal problems. It makes me aware.
Did you know that the highest rate of suicides in the nation resides with returning members of the armed services suffering from PTSD?
One of the most important things we can do is simply to LISTEN:

I MISS YOU TOO.
I am so excited to see you again. It will happen.
I'm watching the livestream right naow. It's enough for me to feel like . . . "Oh my God, kinda wish I was there" but also enough to see how little art there is.
I keep saying "If I were anywhere south of Chemult, I'd do it". But I'm not . . .
