Happy New Year people. Stay safe, but no so safe that you are bored or will later wish you had cut loose a little more.

Peace.

* dances in and tosses glittery strands of silver over the rafters, mirrors, bar, and dancefloor. adjusts the mirror ball and sets it revolving at high speed. dusts off and shines up the fabulous neon sign with the twisting dragons and turns it back on after weeks of dormancy...
twirls and flings glitter all over everything... dances hither and thither testing out the go-go boots for later...
sets out several types of noisemakers on the bar, along with a hundred bottles of Magnum, a large sparkly basket full of chocolates and candies, unveils the buffet table covered with crab cakes, fondues, and imported cheeses...
finally stands still and looks over the glorified dusty old tent, red sox banners, signs, photos, posters, blankets, pillows, couches, and mis-matched tables and chairs, spying ghosts everywhere... hearing snippets of conversation in her head... laughter, teasing, tenderness... a tear is in her eye as she looks over the fine display that won't be used or appreciated tonight, and she thinks of the magic that has happened here... the bonds forged, the loves found and lost... the depth of connections that are lost on 'outsiders'.... and she is very, very grateful for everything she has found here - and been given. she writes in the dust on the dancefloor: *

Right here, right now, the future looks bright, indeed, my friends! Thank you all for everything you have brought to me, to The Bar, and to each other both in it and outside of it. I believe we have found things here that will be with us for our lifetimes.
Dammit... i love you guys.
Happy, happy new year to all y'all.

love and shiny kisses (& topless hugs, too),
tish

* she rises, brushes a tear from her grinning cheek, grabs a bottle off the bar, plants a bright red lipstick kiss in the middle of the mirror behind the bar, and dances out the door... *

No prob, Tisha. No place to go tonite (*sob!* ), will be staying around the ol' bar & getting plowed right here.

Any other social pariahs out there wanna share a (reasonably good) bottle of vodka with me? Look, it's even in a plastic... erm, pardon me, POLYMER bottle so's we won't break it as we get sloshed! Ain't technology grand? :D

Well 'Mt. Bar Customer #1', looks like it just down to you and me, aka 'Mr. Bar Customer #2'...

As it should be.

Pour me a big one.

Hmmm, nice to be #1 for a change, everyone's always telling me I look like #2... (thank you, Murder By Death, one of the {thankfully} more forgettable comedies of the '70s).

Miss Giggles, I know the sign sez free an' all, but thot I would ask - could I get a kiss as well? I would gladly trade you some of my (hic!) semi-good vodka.
