Greetings from Northern Ontario, Canada

Post by L_DJ_B » Sat Mar 20, 2021 11:26 pm

Hey everyone, my name is Lance and I’m a First Nations man living and working in Northern Ontario, Canada. I spent many years in Toronto pursuing my education and consider most of my circle of friends to be there (If you asked me in-person I would still lie and say I’m from Toronto because I love that city!) Cool fact: I met my closest friends through Twitter, on a dancefloor of some club or afters...and the rest is history.

I’ve travelled to quite a few places and been to some good parties around the world (BPM 2015) which has been a huge part of my life.

Currently, my career takes first priority and helping my First Nation advance in economic development and growth towards prosperity and sustainability as a nation. Second priority is fishing and boating—you can catch me out on the lake if I’m not working.

What brought me here is to meet like-minded individuals and hear your life experiences. I find that dance music brings the most interesting stories and I could listen to stories of parties you went to, djs you’ve seen, all day! It is something you can only understand on a dancefloor with like-minded people.

My question to you is: how was your first burn and what was the highlight?

Cheers,
Lance

I went the first time with another experienced burner who helped me prepare. There is certainly a "Burning Man Regional" in Ontario. Good people to meet, and many regionals have some kind of online presence during COVID.

The Burning Man organizers are working to diversify the burn, including families of first arrivers to the Americas: https://burningman.org/culture/diversit ... inclusion/.

The event may be less dance festival this year. It is always an art festival where people have creative outfits, decorate their camp, create interactive experiences, and build art installations. I have always found it an inspiring reset which brings a fresh eye to projects in real life.

Welcome to ePlaya and preparing for your camping trip!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Neat - and did you go every year since? I’m going to do some research on when and where the burning man regional is in Ontario and definitely try to make it out to one.

Thx for the tip

After 8-9 burns and maybe 2 regionals I dropped out. For the regional, I did not like the layout of the land they moved to, but since they have a new better campsite. Now I have a new objective in returning, ticket gods willing. A large portion of my friends in real life are burners, but none center their entire life on the burn. They are just nice creative people.

With the border reopening, that Regionals link may show campouts in your transportation radius. You can join their social media.

There are also regionals across the world. I'd love to go to the South Africa one.
