The Daily Show did a supercut of covid nonsense in the format of an awards show by category

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WYBef5gVao

It's not funny, and they left out a lot of other examples.

Those Australians are back at it! They use a lot of 4 letter words, so the audio is NSFW.

i made the mistake of turning on the source of many of our nations problems, fox "news".

this is a real screenshot.

this is the garbage and lies they spew daily.

it's time to end this bullshit, just like we did when Father Coughlin was stirring up the same hatred.

Last night I watched, Don’t Look Up. I enjoyed it, very spot on. I cried a lil bit at the end :coffee:

Right now, watching more snow falling

Don't Look Up was fun and goofy, recommended. I think they could have shortened it, and it is not Dr Strangelove, a masterpiece. Many climate scientists have commented on it. I don't know if Oliver Stone is retired, but a dark treatment of the Covid response, from Trump, Xi, Boris, Bolsonaro, etc., needs making.

some seeing eye, you have good taste.

I strongly suggest the 23rd and the 25th anniversary specials that Carson did,

The 23rd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMAiDQuVj8g

The 25th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u7_R3JGkmw

YouTube is a literal programming gold mine. Much of the History Channel's best stuff is on there, as well as the PBS Frontline series. As a result of watching all the available episodes of "Swamp People", I even got a wild hair to learn cajun cooking, including file gumbo, jambalaya, Redfish coubillion, and alligator piquant. After watching an episode with a new dish, I'd google the dish, get all the available recipes, and try them out.

Did you know that the squadron that shot down the most German planes during the Battle of Britain, the 303 was composed entirely of Polish pilots and led by a Canadian? Amazing tidbit of learning. Many more available on Youtube.

And later, what had the Germans usually turning tail and fleeing upon sight, were the red-tailed planes of the Tuskegee Airmen. Competence and effort. Just to make it clear you'd better clear off, red was used on other parts too.

Well, Canoe, some of the best tidbits are still in books.

I just read a book that gives the background and details behind one of the most stunning wins in the history of rodeo. Held in Cheyenne yearly, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo calf roping event was won by cowboys from Wyoming up until 1908. In that year, the event was won by a paniolo from Hawaii. The traditional paniolos were roping wild cattle in the extremely rough volcanic rock-strewn steep slope of the big island of Hawaii in those days. a gem of a book, called "Aloha Rodeo".

And I still amaze folk who have never heard of the most lopsided military victory in US history. Imagine being outnumbered 20 to 1 and charging at the enemy anyway. Twenty-five US Cavalry troopers were being held back from their freight delivery objective by a war party of over 500 Modoc Indians. The troopers charged, riding camels. The camels had been brought to the US as part of an experiment on alternate transport mounts in the desert southwest. The Modocs had never seen camels before. They fled the potential confrontation in terror. This .was "shock and awe" long before the Gulf War. This was also a PERFECT victory. There were no casualties on either side. The experiment ended in 1857. The comedy movie "HAWMPS" was based on the US Camel Corps, as they were sometimes referred to. At the end of the movie, a cavalry trooper actually missed his camel being taken away for sale; and bemoaned the loss with the perfect comedic schlock line of "I'd walk a mile for a camel". I moaned with secret delight when I saw the movie.
