Free Event/Activity Ideas for Camp.

Post by Lonesomebri » Mon Apr 04, 2022 3:05 pm

Free Event Ideas for your camp. Any camp. Putting the U back into Due-acracy. We've all had fantastic ideas for an event or activity that we have absolutely no plan to carry out. Why waste that action-absent creativity? Anything beats the million dollar idea of pretending to pass out popsicles. Leave your own ideas that only need a little "completion" to bring the magic. Make your camp better by taking these gifts. Copywrite free.

How many of those "We Paint Titties" camps are there out on the playa? 100? Edgy, liberated, so feminist! But are you really? Prove it

Who Drank That?
PSX_20220404_185236.jpg
This is a variation on the old Carney game of guessing someone's weight. Or like one of those murder mystery theater dinners. There are two variations on this activity. One involves you not finding your beverage in the ice chest where you put it. The other involves mysterious empties everywhere. Both lead to a rousing finger pointing camp activity of Who Drank That?

Do you have no skills, materials, or ideas? Do not let this stop you from attempting big things at burning man. One genius interactive gift is getting everything done by other people. Let them build it, and buy it, for you! This is magical, so magical.

Maybe you have a very small personal camp, but with BIG ideas. How can you host the masses in comfort? There are plenty of large, well stocked, commissary catered community areas on the playa just yearning for your presence. And events don't have to be a physical activity, they can be lectures and workshops and conspiracies and de-programing ; what is to be done before taking action. Maybe you have a deeper understanding of an old joke, you could offer your detailed insight into the meaning and humor of that joke, for 45 minutes. Don't let the limited attention span of others detour you in your own ravings.

"You stink!"
Smell Events or Activities are something I have spent considerable time researching, and compiling details. Most of these ideas involved farts or the porta potties. Of course having a mystery smell-off on porta pottie row, perhaps guesses waged on what the person walking out has had for breakfast... This type of behavior is ripe with possibilities. Or just a simple Who Smells Worst/Best sniff around the camp activity circle.

As an aside, when meeting new next door camp neighbors in Black Rock City, I have always told them how thankful I am to have them there, sharing the next couple weeks together out here on the playa, then hand them a stick of deodorant, as a gift.

An event that offers Inclusion, Building Community, Welcoming the Stranger, Shared Experiences and Time, Participation, No Spectators, Interaction... these are values that are very important to me, and to the Burn©. Nothing brings people together like hard physical labor, honest sweat, shared goals. Build on what you know. Offer from your own abundance, sharing the rich details of a Burn well spent.
PSX_20220406_182555.jpg
This idea was stolen from a distant prankster of the playa. Make everything an event. I actually had a couple wonderful people show up to help!

I just feel my lack of ability to use the fulfillment speak required. Maybe my area of influence, er expertise, is more tactile. (No, not really) I also really don’t like a dirty vehicle, so maybe a camp can gift the practice of team building, explore non visual abilities, sharing and learning new ways to look at big camp chores. Knowing how to make hard work silly and fun for others is a huge community advantage. I remember your wonderful www Monday event. Sorry I missed it.

A few years back, after hearing that little kids were being taken to the hospital after eating dishwasher and laundry soap pods, a few campmates and I started a running joke for a camp idea.... TIDE POD CANDY CAMP! Our brilliant idea was to make candy that looked like one of those little pods, but was actually safe to eat. Sure, we were just all kinds of drunk and laughing at anything by that point...

Realistically speaking there are a hundred things wrong with that. First, you probably don't want to encourage candy from strangers, or to further confuse little tykes about what they can and can't put in their mouths (we should leave that task to his/her parents or guardians). Second, we figured it would probably turn into a super creepy person magnet. You know what I mean, they're not part of camp and they don't have any children of their own, they just really like being around young kids. Not to mention potential issues with health department, law enforcement.... I mean, oof. The running joke is hilarious, but the reality is 71 kinds of terrible. But it is a free idea. Maybe it's the start of something fun or hilarious that you end up doing... or helps you and your campmates come up with a running joke of your own that doesn't stop making you laugh, but is a terrible idea in practice. Enjoy!

I can work clean. Scale makes all the difference, in very small quantities. Where else but burning man? If it is candy actually. I like it.

Exactly! I have all kinds of those fabulously imaginative mind-blowing camp ideas that you simply would not believe, maybe sometime I'll mention them to ya, in the future... maybe...

As an aside, once way back, I gave a ride on my chariot bike to an older couple returning from the Man at dusk. They said they ran the Zoo, and invited me for a drink when I dropped them off there. But I declined, as the playa called, and I had all that cross-town traffic to face. It remains a mystery

But my signature camp activity was "Candy and Condoms From Strangers"!

Though, in my ideal world, there would be no children bothering me at the Burn (except that one kid who gave me a sandwich once, and those two kids in spacesuits ..), so it would be only stupid grown ass adults eating tide pods at our camp. Kids at the Burn... Like children at Hooters, or the Bar, sure, the parents reassure themselves, it's for the kids!
And, slightly similar to those adult establishments, I don't want children watching me get drunk and ogle nude people.

How about another camp activity, it's called birth control.

The Petting Zoo was a night affair in a large nondescript complex of drab army tents. It was next to a black light body and face painting camp.

There was a line to get in. People leaving were sworn to secrecy about what was inside and they kept to that.

The first room has benches and shelves to remove your shoes, which was required. Then you proceeded through a dark zig zag corridor where a lot of people were making out, heavy petting if you will. Finally there was a large room, a DJ, inflatable couches, and black light. I think there was a separate passage back to get your shoes and exit.

People might send you there or in the case of The Duck, "just head out straight from the temple toward Point 3 and you will find it." "What is it?" "We can't tell you, you just have to find out for yourself." The Duck had its garage door open to the lit inside facing out toward Point 3, so you had to get out there and close to find it.

A certain camp involving fish also had its ways of being hard to find, "you go to this neighborhood, look for this thing, and find the maze in," just because they have limited capacity.

Today, the tour buses and cruise ships would stop at it, which is sad.

I see what ya did there. Touche. (making finger six shooters and dropping the hammers)

I was thinking about having one of our carports used for party games for 2 hours each night. But I like the Playa name idea. Maybe 2 big spinning wheels with words on them. Wherever they stop that's your Playa name for the night. Or for the tech savvy have a 1 armed bandit randomly generate Playa names. Actually....that would be fun. I claim first dibs on that idea.

Oh, that’s easy … while you entertain the victims guests, a pit crew of snazzy ninja bike mechanics, the ones with the wrenches, quickly replace their cruiser chains into a figure-8 loop, so the bikes pedal backwards.

The good times will roll!
