Free Event/Activity Ideas for Camp.

I'm thinking of an activity called "Sorry, Not Sorry", not sure exactly what it would be, but it would be funded by the unlocked bikes of the participants, and involve them finding a way home

Oh, that’s easy … while you entertain the victims guests, a pit crew of snazzy ninja bike mechanics, the ones with the wrenches, quickly replace their cruiser chains into a figure-8 loop, so the bikes pedal backwards.

The good times will roll!

I was actually with a camp whose lead had rented out bikes with locks to some members. If he ever found one of those bikes unlocked in camp, he would wheel it around in back to hide and hold hostage.

has anyone mentioned the value in starting a feud with a rival camp? It costs nothing to steal someones flag from on top of their janky scaffold tower. Send spies to infiltrate to their leadership structure. Post BRCCP propaganda in their camp at night. Cyber attacks: hijack their soundsystem via bluetooth or hack into their fancy wifi. Post invitations to fake events at someone else's camp at center camp/WWW/artery. Copy-Cat your neighbors, assume their identity and "borrow" inspiration for your own camp events. How flattering would it be to stumble upon an exact replica of your own camp?

A few years back while cruising along the gayborhood I came across a camp that had a wooden booth in front of it. I stepped through the door and found a hole in the plywood wall and a bell to ring for service. I rang the bell many times and still nothing. I was sad. Went looking for it the next year and have not found it since.

So my idea is not new, it is more a modification, I liked the booth idea, but what it lacked was a:

1. Sliding confession window that allowed for penance and communication.
2. See through plexiglass window to view the wonderful sharing person on the other side of the wall, maybe another sliding door for anonymity.
3. A better ringing system, maybe one that was app related, so anyone could be alerted when the bell rings
4. A viewing booth for voyeurs
5. Another booth set up with a video camera and broadcast

Do you have any other thoughts?

I couldn't put my finger on it, but last night I found the big old clangy bike bell, and remembered a simple activity that anyone can enjoy while out on the playa. I attached the bell like a ring on my finger, then went about my Burn. Walking amongst people, waiting for whatever, standing anywhere on a dusty street or open playa, Clang! Clang! And everyone instantly twitches sideways, hops out of the way, looks around fast expecting to be plowed over by a speeding bike. But it's just me and my bell, standing right behind you, Clang Clang. Ha, made you jump! So simple and fun. The part attached around my finger did start to rub the skin off from friction later in the week, and the dust... The dust caused an infection. The hot tub soak at Grand Sierra didn't help. It was touch and go. They had to take the finger off. Probably why I couldn't put my finger on it now.

Clang Clang, so funny, I still laugh about it when I remember.

"Hosting a showcase". Oh man, what a angle, why didn't I think of this. You don't have to do anything, your camp doesn't have to do anything. Your camp "hosts a showcase" by inviting in other people not camped with you to do whatever they do. Genius. We invite others to bring us the playas best bartenders, strippers, magicians, barbers, story tellers, comedians, whatever. Our showcase! They're not in our camp. We're not doing the act, but if you do, stop by our camp, do it here, and be our camps activity. You are welcome.

Yep. A notch above I’ll credit that. Right up there with hosting a scheduled vehicular event to tour the art, and “inviting” more mvs to participate, (in addition to the event organizer’s 3 person golf cart); or fundraising to build a building that will “allow” everyone to make art. I don’t know. Yes it’s a big curtain, and we aren’t supposed to look behind it.

learn stake driving, stake pulling without an electric impact driver. view or try a hands-on demonstration of setting up a soft sided tent or shade. try what "dirty" feels like, and LIVE. tour the portos. Dare-a-thon: speak to a stranger and don't ask what they do for a living.

This camp! They are placed and registered. Their website does not indicate what their theme is. Can you guess it? They need you! They have really gone to outsourcing. They apparently have tickets allocated for essential camp members to be named later.

I inquired what their “theme/vibe” was, and got an answer that still doesn’t explain what they actually bring or do that is their contribution. I was polite and said, “thank you.”

“hi! Nice to meet you. Our name and theme comes from the desire to connect with others, high levels of energy and excitement, We also love adding onto events we are into, accenting them if you will, very much like adding an exclamation point to the end of an existing sentence.”

I’m sure they are just swell, and if they are into what you do, they add an exclamation point to your existing gift or project, I guess, add-on, and substantiate their theme camp status by doing so, and that’s just super wonderful. They say they have great energy. It is high concept, inexpensive, carries a low infrastructure requirement, easy to pack and store. They host, and approve, and help with promotion.
