Almost two weeks now and there are bits of this cold still hanging on. The sleep dep is really taking its toll at this point. I think a good strong whiskey will burn this shit out of me.

Oh and good morning everyone. I hope all of you have a wonderful day. Even being a little sick still the sun being out today is having a nice affect on my mood.

Um. Health care? pay raise every year--no matter how grudging? retirement plan? Plus she'd miss the mild mannered mormon once I got in there and started scaring off customers.

I read an erotic story years ago about some lady on a coral reef and an octopus... didn't sound too plausable, but it did sound like fun... and how many tentacles would it take?

Hey! Some of us with "Federal Jobs" work our asses off for LESS $$$ than I could get in the private sector. But I did not choose this path for the $$$.

Um Heli--no offence ment. In fact, I'd say that all in all we (the country) are getting a bargain when you count the number of people in the number of agencies who do a good job because they feel responcibility to the tax payers, because they care about the work, because they are honest hard working people, because they believe in the work, because they like the workplace culture better than that of the private sector--and 1000 other reasons. I have a federal job, and I know I am blessed for it. Getting another one would be a factor in any move I'd make.

Sorry Fishist, I got an earfull from an anti-government visitor yesterday 20 minutes AFTER I returned from a back country rescue of a couple who travelled down a closed road, broke their car, walked 30+ miles in almost freezing weather, were in no way prepared for any extended time out of doors, and could easily have died. I had a really fun day except for the one person. So I am just a little touchy today, and no freekin booze in the house.

oi, i don't think anyone is dissing either of you.

heli, put down the damn tool and rest; you work too hard.

all i'm saying is that i currently need a better reason NOT to nag you to move to Seattle.

i can't complain cause some months i get away with murder here. 'course, i'll be workin til the day i die. most of it at or below minimum wage. but these are (sometimes, and in my case largely) choices that we make for whatever reason.

Exactly what I mean by a bargain. that's hard and potentially heart-breaking work. And you can bet that if that bozo had been trapped he would have expected to be rescued hours earlier. So many of those ant--gov types are just lazy thinkers; and rude to boot. Dang, maybe Gail should send you a sixpack. You've earned it.

Barkeep! Set Heli up with whatever he needs, and keep em coming.

You've never seen heli stuck in a city. Scary. Being close to a city is OK. They are nice to visit, briefly. Is there a desert near there? A secret hot spring? Magnificent silence? Stars so bright you can almost reach up and grab em? Sunshine and blue skies? I did apply for a job in Seattle a few months ago but it didn't happen. I'm waiting for something to open at Lassen NP. Or with the Forest Service in Northern Cali or Reno/Tahoe. Who knows?

a) the city would implode from the dense concentrations of fabulousness and fun.

or

b) everyone else would leave cuz we would drive them out with our sparkly and obnoxious behaviour

or

c) we'd all settle in nicely, support each other through it all, have way too much fun in all of our free hours, and grow gracefully old together... amidst mad drama forever.

didn't make it. couldn't find it. explored venice for a while, then headed home. at midnight i was on the 10 freeway watching the fireworks as i drove past downtown LA. all involved were mightily disappointed. i was in much better shape to drive home the next day than i otherwise would've been, tho.
