Ah, hof days!...
The marble floor was great, did you want something warmer? I bet the cedar is just beautiful. Pictures look great. Super boom box also. I look forward to seeing it one day. Patsh? Ride along?
That sounds like a super fun trip... with it now in mind, it's up to us to make it happen! :D

On a happier note, I did get the new floor put in the Hof:

incense cedar, that I knew when it was a tree. It was on the neighbors property, leaning over their house, so we fell it, then I milled and dried it, and installed. Sorta neat concept, well for me anyway. 1.25" thick on 12" spans.
Mr Ygmir, that is an impressive floor! May I ask what were the joist dimensions you nailed that too and what foundation supports the joists? I do my own remodeling and know floors. There are a lot of crap flooring systems today designed to be profitably sent to the landfill after a short life. !.25" thick floor will last eons of refinishing. I have some Western walnut milled off my small yard waiting projects.

Hi Patsh! Yeah, what a day, everyone making an assebly line carrying the granite in, IIRC, Elorrum and someone else was placing it with me. What kindness of all to help with that! It took a lot longer to take out, I can tell you!
I too hope you can come visit again one day! Those were some fun times.

I seem to remember a story floating around this bar about a certain one legged hooker, and I recently met a pro that fit the description.

Miss Svetlana Donchawanna said she used to have a client that she referred to as "Donnie DRMF, pronounced durmph (dirty rotten mother fucker) and after all these years STILL hasn't been paid for services rendered.

She has red hair and an eye patch, and I just wondered if this charming young lady was the same as the one of legend?

Any enlightenment would be much appreciated.

I may have gotten a tap from the top oven as well, but not a full speed one.

Question for experts. I need to replace a lock on a friend’s storage unit in Fernley, a new combo lock. The old one froze up, was cut off, and I don’t want to be the designated key holder for the one we had to get at the time. Should I treat a new lock (any preference for outdoor winter summer extremes?) with any kind of graphite or rust prevention to avoid seizing in the future? What would you recommend? Thanks.

I believe some time in the past you mentioned an encounter that Da Mule had with a one legged hooker.

I've heard about the story, but I don't KNOW the story.

Please elucidate.

I have several outdoor locks, key and combo. I've had fine luck with putting a few drops of (enter your favorite spray lube/rust remover) in the fall and spring. There are also some spray greases, that spray on very thin and thicken in a few minutes, so would stick inside even better.

This summer heat..ugh. Seems every year, I get a little less tolerant.
We have fires popping up every day, so far, none have gotten too bad. Firefighters are on high alert and with the increased air support they are getting on them pretty fast. But, fuel moisture is dropping fast with high temps and single digit humidity. The next 3 months are the focus.

It's fun to see the excitement building for TTITD! It'll be interesting to see if and how things change, and the nuances of the new world since the last one...

There's a wagon?

I'm hiding from the heat in my dark bedroom, only place in the house with AC. The swamp cooler isn't cutting it.

No wagons here, just a house full of boxes. Packing for our move from California to Eugene Oregon, as well as packing for the playa. And practicing my set list, I'm doing a couple of a capella jazz/blues/torch sets in BRC this year. Nervous but excited!

HI AntiM!!! what a treat!
yeah the heat.ugh. I just switched back to my swampcooler, AC gives me a sore throat.
Well, for some it's a wagon, for me more of a goat cart, but still....

HI Strata!
wow, where in CA? and what's taking you to OR? that's a lot of things, packing, moving, packing Burning. Are you singing acapella? or playing electronic? Good for you. One of our long timers, Gaminwench, gives "classes" in singing and stuff out there, sometimes anyway.

Good morning bar. Heat, I have morning window fan strategies to blow in a little cool, watch the indoor outdoor thermometer, and close up at near equilibrium, then open it all again when I go to bed. Fans at all hours, ac late afternoon and evening. Desert camping is not appealing to me, but I am considering going to see the perseids at their peak.

Moving from Sunnyvale (SF Bay Area). We had friends who moved to Eugene about 18 years ago, and fell in love with the place when we'd go up to visit them. Ironically, they are now divorced and living elsewhere, but in the meantime we bought a house and have been renting it out for the last dozen-plus years. My husband retired this spring, and I can work remotely, so we are going for it.

Doing acapella. Wednesday 1pm, Hair of the Dog Stage at 5:00 & Rod's Road by Center camp, and Thursday 7:30pm, AEZ Stage on 4:00 between E & F. Feel free to drop by, just don't throw tomatoes, they are moopy. :-D

Thanks for the mention, Ygmir!

I'm not headed to the dust this year, we're exploring local(ish) Regionals with the rednecks (I say that fondly).

I was, however, contacted by a woman in the spring who was interested in Singing for ScaredyCats; we had a ZOOM meeting and I have passed the mantle to her. I don't know yet when/where her sessions are scheduled; I do hope she lets me know so that I can spread the word.

Ha, I'm sorry we never met up so you could help me learn to sing "the sound of silence"....loved the "Disturbed" rendition and thought I could pull it off.
