The high-flying segment of the art world has its own world fairs, call them festivals if you like. They fall into two categories: nonprofit-curated and for profit-curated. Many of the for profit-curated are curated by the galleries selling their stuff. Art Basil Miami is the latter. The Venice Biennale is more the former. Burning Man has one foot in the latter and the other foot in anonymous open source art made by everyone.

I really hope the culture team gives some thought to commodification of creative careers off playa. Personally I believe DJs and any artist who sells works above $10K apiece or $100K income per year be required to use playa names on playa different than their default world names. I think art students and artists selling at less than $10K per piece be allowed to put "Burning Man" or "Black Rock City" on their CV and show images of that work using those BMORG Trademarks.

We have already made a commodification mess of name DJs in BRC which distorts the discussion.
