pretty slow in here these days it seems? Everyone busy with spring, and the start of summer I'd guess?
Been a nice spring here. We had such an epic winter, snow is still deep in the high country, I can't even get to my Hof yet, due to deep snow drifts blocking the roads. And the rivers and streams are all flowing near flood levels. The east side, Nevada, is experiencing the same issues as I hear.

Big crackin’ thunder and boom here the past few afternoons. Sometimes with rain or deluge, short lived.

I saw Foxfur on the weekend, a real treat and surprise. I listened to amazing experiences and knowledge relating to the Foxfur compound, mushrooms and mushroom products. He added some pyrotechnics to the event also.

Hi Yggy! Not this year (again). I may have hit the lucky seven the last time I went. It was my 7th year going.
I must say, though, I think of it often and miss seeing my friends.
Are you going this year? Without the Frankencamper, you'd be lost! (at least to me... that was how I found you!)

Yes I’m going this year. Going in Monday if the event, I didn’t want early entry this year. So that will be exciting…. I live close enough that I don’t need to spend 2 weeks out there to get my fill. And maybe I won’t get so cranky by the end of the event. yes I know it’s very hard to imagine me getting cranky

Last year was hell, I left Saturday morning of man burn day and was home by 11 am. No regrets

Hi FJ!! wait: you, with nothing to say? huh?...haha, glad to see ya droppin in though! How're the cacti doing?

Patsch: nope, not going again this year. Just too much going on, and perhaps not enough enthusiasm. But, well who knows. I did tell my dept. head out there that if the wheels start to fall off the dept. I might be able to come help.

Lucky: well no, I can't imagine you cranky.... you are indeed fortunate to be able to just cruise home easy for any reason you want! I know a couple of times over the years, I had to scoot out of the event for a day or two and come back, my drive is about 1.5 hours longer, so not so bad.

These last few summers I've spent a fair amount of time up at the Hof, working on it, putting up stone and new floor and such. I've enjoyed the contrast between vacations at TTITD, and all that goes on there, and the high mountain, cool weather solitude of the Hof.

Maybe we can all get together there again one day...Those were some fun times!!

My 7th Burn was 2018, and I'll not be going again this year. Finding it harder and harder to justify the cost and carbon footprint. I do, however, REALLY miss my amazing friends!

I almost pulled the trigger to go this year, but, alas, some stuff just didn't come together. My last year was 17, amazing how time has gone by.
Some camp mates have "retired", one has died, but a few are still going, though the camp has split into two factions, who no longer camp together. How human...
How's things in AZ? We're looking at dangerous heat the next few days, probably temps you are used to in summer, up to 108 they are saying.

Definitely hot over here in AZ. Though, the last 2 days, there was a cloud for a bit... no rain. Hoping for some real monsoon activity any day now. Fingers crossed!

Morning Bar. My old Burning Man “wound” is flaring up a little. Not as bad as in other years, but yesterday I was feeling it. Is it just that things change over time, and over a long time, there will be big change, or am I simply a contrary growley?

Yesterday I got swept up in a battle to fix the stupid on the internet. I spotted a camp map with one car. I was told there was unlimited parking in the outer rings. I answered “what kind of tent should I get?” questions (apparently now there are only three that won’t kill you, starting at 599$, and you need air conditioning, lag bolts and an impact driver too.) I played whack a mole with dangerous burning man tips and tricks. I tried to explain to somebody that street fishing with glow sticks was not mean, or a way to hurt the feelings of strangers, or something assholes do to encourage the unsuspecting to never pick up moop again. I went for a walk around sunset, came home and wondered what was compelling me to fight it so. Let them go and find out for themselves.

it is the coolest here this morning that it has been in a few weeks. I’ve got a box fan in the window trying to shift some more cool indoors before it starts to heat up.

one of the best I saw was my first year, I believe at Barbie Death Camp, they had tied Barbies, and other things of interest to lines were trolling for us newbs....probably the first prank I saw at TTITD. it was great.
My friend stopped his bike when he saw the barbie in the street, and promptly fell over.......then as he reached, the barbie of course was pulled away. He dove on it, put it in his teeth and thrashed about on the road as they tried to reel him in.........pure gold.

Elorrum: yeah, it's tough to get caught up in "here's how it really is, was, or should be"... Humans have advanced, partly due to writing and being able to pass knowledge through generations, so we don't have to invent the wheel every time. And yet, people so often won't listen to advice or truths, from those who have "been there, done that".
It seems often we have to make the same mistake we were warned about and then realize "they were right", and go along and try to tell others, so they avoid it, just to realize whomever told us probably thought the same thing.

*sneaks in*...OH how I miss the bar and the burn! Still running a toasty 106 today....found my old burningman shoes, and yes they are still dusty! yayyyy. I miss the old days (started in 99), when the burn was the burn. Sadly after 20 years, I wasn't enjoying the *new* burn.
I so still enjoy reading eplaya and keeping up with all of the old timers.
