Hi, first time burn for us coming up. We have 29 hours of driving to get home and have no choice but to leave the Saturday night. The plan is to be cleaned up and ready and then watch the man burn for a bit and then head out on the way home.
Question: Are there any times of day where movement is restricted or should we be planning to move our vehicle before dark to make navigating out easier? or does all of this become self explanatory once there?
Thanks

The gate will close for weather - white outs or rain. You should not be moving your vehicle in the city under those conditions either.
Gate (FM) radio and the Burning Man traffic twitter will have traffic updates.
Your plan will have minimum delay. You can look at past years on the twitter and sometimes people graph past data.

Just in your immediate camp area, if you are in a tightly configured arrangement, it’s easier to move to the clear in daylight, and stage your vehicle accordingly. You don’t need to stage your vehicle any closer to the exit. I don’t think you will encounter any backed up cars at that time until you have driven a ways beyond the city.
I would strongly suggest you have a well rested safe driver. That Saturday can be an exhausting day. I used to leave after the burn, and I never saved much travel time because I would really need to stop and sleep.

What about arrival times? We're planning to arrive either on 29th/30th and was wondering about what time of the day would there be less traffic? My guess is sometime in the morning say 8-9am as most will still be sleeping???
Also, any guesses where they would have us park?? Its just me and 1 friend and we'll be tent camping. would we be able to have a little bit of space or will this be like a parking lot? Ive seen Pictures of BM but they are mostly of themed camps (some look completely closed off LOL)
TIA

Arrival times are a crap shoot. Everyone tries to game it and fails.
You park where you camp, except Walk-in Camping where you need to walk in to your tent.

Everyone is so politically fucked up that they're segregating themselves in the name of equal rights and liberation.

The 29th/30th arrival shouldn’t be terrible or a long wait unless….there’s a white out or a rain out. Try not to go through entry at shift change which I believe is at 6 am/pm and 12 am/pm.Bruce030 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 1:23 pmWhat about arrival times?
