Burning Man works like a clock. After gates close, DPW removes the infrastructure, Resto activates, and a substantial accounting and reporting is done to the BLM and other agencies. This year some of the Outside Services accounting is complex due to BxB & BxA closing early, then all the new services around our unusual exodus. No doubt a lot of fine print reading. The 2024 budget and ticket structure is designed and contracts start to be planned. Of course the staff want and need a vacation and to spend time with family!
The clock moves forward on its own schedule. It is now time for Placement to stir, with statements of intent.
There is a change coming to villages, and we are in the time where it is not exactly clear what next year will look like.
Don't panic (yet!)
What the BORG seems to be saying, and no doubt will drop an essay, is that villages will apply as a collection of individual camps (possibly one big camp some are discussing.) The individual camps in the collection will be request to be placed together.
As part of the sustainability roadmap, we all want to lower our fossil fuel emissions on playa, moving toward carbon neutral, and separate our solid waste for recycling off playa except for the Gerlach Schools can crush. So the BORG is requesting more documentation of that in the form of "Hubs." Pending an official explanation, Hubs something something villages.
The new system may provide a finer grained distribution of stewards tickets IN 2025. See below.
Personally I've been part of a village when things were simpler, Woonami Village. We stopped counting at 500. I really value Nectar Village, or whatever the current name, and the AEZ. Obviously Kidsville. I have not experienced the others.
At the moment if you are part of a village, it is a good time to be communicating with your village organizers as the master plan unfolds. If you are not part of a village it does not affect you!!!!
From Level, the Duke of Placement"
(The) "email to BRC villages and camps within villages.
The emails were sent were only sent to camps/villages that were impacted and not general announcements for the whole community. So if you didn't get an email, it's because you were not impacted. You don't need to feel left out and don't need to contact Placement asking why you didn't receive either of those notifications."

Inside of that is:
NEW 12. I’m in a village, who fills out the SOI?
Placement is ending the village designation as a placed camp category between 2024-25.
All village mayors should submit a SOI on behalf of all your theme camps within the village in 2024. Theme camps within villages should not submit a SOI and should work with your village mayor to access the 2024 Stewards Sale. 2024 will be the last year village mayors can submit a SOI.
In 2025, theme camps in villages will need to complete the SOI to receive their own allotment of Stewards Sale tickets directly from Placement."
