LoRa /Meshtastic on playa

Hello everyone,

Has anybody used Lora or meshtastic out on playa during the event? I've been playing around with a couple of units, and I quite like them for their simplicity and non-immediate nature, but yet a good way to reach someone if need be.

Obviously Radios work, but it's a fair bit to lug around, whereas i've seen some compact meshtastic units that wouldn't be as obtrusive, or could be worn as jewelry, etc.

Anyway, just launching a notion out into the ether.

There is a whole company called LynQ that started out as one of these projects from Burning Man.

Some of the org business is transacted on mailing list google groups. You want to look up brc-wifi-list, join it, search for past discussions, and then ask your questions there. It is usually quiet until about June. Obviously do this in the ISM bands unless you are licensed. People have done things like mutant vehicle tracking with similar tech.
