New....ish
The more I read into archive threads and then threads posted today, I can see the growing theme of "passing the torch" to the newer burners such as myself. I wouldn't be surprised if that a theme in a few coming years because inevitably it will be to that point where even the original burners are just no longer capable/ already fulfilled. Though resets can be a good thing, I'm glad I'll experience my burn with very seasoned burners and gain the knowledge of the culture from when it started. Off the soap box
I'm banking on mainsale tickets since it's my first time this year and won't really be apart of a camp. With that said, should I be worried about missing out on a ticket? Or be glued to the computer the second the tickets go on sale?

Welcome to our humble little dusty bar. It's strongly advised (absolutely imperative) that you have your computer warmed up and ready to buy the tickets the second the clock ticks noon. Don't get excited and forget to order a vehicle pass if you need one. You'll need to set up a Burner Profile, which gives all your mailing info and other information about you. Then you will need to register for the sale ahead of time to get things started. On the Burner Profile portal, you'll be able to click on the ticket sale when it goes live.VirginBurner24 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 1:10 amThe more I read into archive threads and then threads posted today, I can see the growing theme of "passing the torch" to the newer burners such as myself. There's a queue for buying tickets. Once in, be patient and your turn will come if the planets align for you. Make sure your credit card has available credit and that it's one accepted. Do all the detailed reading ahead of time.
Good luck and we'll see you in the dust.

as tickets will show up later as peoples plans change.

Thanks for reaching out to the both of you! Specially thank you to FIGJAM for the swamp cooler idea that I will be attempting this year. Anyhoo, will a link to sign up for a ticket be posted here? https://tickets.burningman.org/
If not, where do I need to wait for the link? Forgive my Ignorance, anxious first timer

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet VirginBurner24, but do sign up to 'Jack Rabbit Speaks'. You'll receive burner info and stories in a timely manner.
As Sham has suggested, be sure to create a Burner Profile. You have to have one to get tickets, and you should do that right now and get that squared away.
Also, be prepared for a gut punch on ticket day. A lot of people don't get a ticket that day even when they do everything right. Supply/demand issues. It hurts in a core way that I, for one, didn't expect when it has happened to me. If that does happen, get up the next day, and on to Ticket Plan B.
Meanwhile, I think we are all curious to see if this year's Main Sale will play out differently than years past.
Sorry if any of the above has already been said. I've been preoccupied with eclipse stuff and other things lately.
Hmm... problem with the 'quote button' there yg?
...and good to see ya stopping in FIG!

hiya BVB! I'm not sure what's with the quote button, at least for me..... and FJ's post was not there until today. Gremlins? seems the color and size buttons don't work for me, either? I don't even know what to check?

Burner profile is completed! And I believe I found where I need to be waiting to register for ticket sale. I can already feel the gut punch coming along but I'm certain that I'm destined to be on the Playa this year.

Old guy has 14 seasons experience as a low income burner. This I got a FOMO to let. My last year was many moons ago, but I'll be back. I am Zozo this year.If you see a gnarly 73 yearling clown, it might be me.

Cyben, I've merged your associated posts together here. This appears to be a better spot for new burner talks. Another thought for you is to join your local burner regional group. This will give you a chance to meet people face to face. https://regionals.burningman.org/regionals/Cyben wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 8:26 pmPreviously know as VirginBurner24, now I'm a little more familiar with how things work here and decided it was time for a new name! It looks like you're doing all the legwork needed to make Burning Man 2024 happen for you. As was mention before, plan to go to Burning Man even if you don't have a ticket in hand. As things get close, tickets become available from people with changing plans. Prepare and be ready to snap up a ticket should that scenario happen.

The former burner who got me to go for my first time this year said to just go without finding a camp for your first year and then you can find one for the next time you go. This will give you the chance to meet with camps face to face and see what you'd like to be a part of.
Next year I'm thinking about creating a camp called "Camp Yurtica" where all of the burner's who create or have Yurts to come join. The idea behind this camp is to have a "town hall" that is Cooled by a few heavy duty swamp coolers or even a/c units to give people a chill place to party and be cool for during the day heat. Gonna be doing a lot of learning and talking this year!
