I think we should get the BLM to gift us Hualapai, use the water from Fly to get it from a dust bowl back to a playa, and move the event there, no BLM and no LEO. You never know what a crazy Secretary of the Interior might do. Maybe Elon, Jared and Ivanka, and the other billionaires can lobby for us? There is room for an airport.

Gift? Gift? I recall the word, not its true meaning though, I suspect. Fly is scrambling to make enough to pay one guy’s cush gig salary, and falling well shy, I believe: $150 to attend a volunteer work weekend. How about cremains sites for dead burners? Yep, selling these too. The monetization of a gifting economy: Tell the World, “burning man has no better way.” It works ok for a few, like most things that generate money. What a sucker, I was, to feel I was actually helping build something that I would be a part of.

No where near that much. Last time I went they ask for $20-$25. This goes towards snacks and drinks. You go out and help with improvements from trail building to painting. Good people, all Burners in the old sense.

I didn’t make the figure up. There were weekend overnights at that price per person in 2020. I’m sure they are nice wonderful people. The point is I’d like to be there too, same as the main burn. It’s nice there. I’m not needing charity, or wanting to have a a work commitment on my vacation, in order to go there. I am a normal consumer, a customer, no longer a participant, priced out of the experience.

Sure, for a time anything is possible, but as it always has, and always will, it devolves to the base instincts.
We love to point fingers at "who's fault" it is, but in reality, it's all of us, in one way or another.
And if we can't blame someone fully, we can rationalize by saying; "yeah, but (fill in the blank) does it more, or worse".

I fully support anyone exercising their 1st a day 2nd amendment rights. But you're yelling to the wind in hear since only 3-4 people ever come here anymore. But as echo chambers go, it is one of the best.
