I believe some songs transcend time and space, and speak directly to the soul.

Re: what are you listening to?
Sitting on the train next to a young lady that’s talking on the phone.
She seems to be waiting on hold as an operator comes on.
In the one sided conversation, we learned that she’s 20 years old living at home with her mom and dad and five siblings under the age of 11 … her dad is the only one who works and he makes $12,000 a year. She doesn’t have an ID but does have a passport and a birth certificate. She is working on getting her ID.
During the conversation it comes out that she’s tested herself with a self pregnancy test and thinks she’s pregnant. She doesn’t have insurance and she doesn’t have a doctor and this is her first pregnancy.
She will take choice one….
She repeats “she will take choice one…..”
The call is to make an appointment.
But only on a day when her mom is available to bring her.
….as she gets up and leaves the train at the next station.
What was the appointment for?
Makes our own little lives problems just a little pathetic by comparison, doesn’t it?

I really like Doechii's "Anxiety" (sampling Goyte's "Somebody That I Used to Know"). Not only an excellent example of a sample being used to great effect with no interest in disguising where it came from, but a song saying something that African-American girls did not used to be socially allowed to express. The video is also a work of art; some really good choreography.

I saw Burroughs in person. What a great voice and so much to remix. He did several projects with director Gus Van Sant also in my adjacent social circles, including the famous Thanksgiving Prayer and Drugstore Cowboy.
