I’ve wanted to go for the last 15-20 years. Ever since I learned what Burning Man was. So it became a bucket-list thing to do. Well, life happens and I decided that this was going to be the year. I’m half-amazed I even secured a ticket.
I will be coming solo. I consider myself somewhat self-reliant. I’ve worked in EMS for over 21 years, so I am good at thinking outside of the box and anticipating problems before they arise.
I used to go to raves in the late 90’s. I went to Woodstock 99. I am interested in seeing if the community is there the way those other events felt in the past.
There are a myriad of other reasons why I’ve wanted to come to Burning Man. I’m processing a variety of life events. A divorce, a bankruptcy, an existential conundrum, working through mental health issues, etc.
I am greatly looking forward to the next 110 days flying by and being able to attend one of the most interesting and impactful events I’ll probably ever go to.

Woohoo and welcome aboard! Life can be tricksy, but hooray for being persistent and congratulations on getting a ticket! Sounds like you've got some great problem-solving skills, and prepping for Burning Man is a great way to put those to good use.

Welcome to the experience of a temporary city of wilderness campers who are creative, amazing, and nice!
A great preparation resource is our network of https://regionals.burningman.org/. They are mostly veterans who have experience in transportation logistics and preparation.
Another good tool are Burning Man packing lists you can find on the Internet then customize.
You can read all the preparation articles on burningman.org, Trilobyte's signature block links, and subscribe to Jack Rabbit Speaks JRS, an email which is also archived.
ePlaya is a great archive for preparation found by its search box and subforums.
