Childhood Cancer took my son

As a chemical engineer who has deemed Art as necessary but not my pursuit to do, as I’d seen it as Selfishness - I had Sustainability to chase.

Now, after the year of hell;my son’s bone cancer and leg loss, lung surgery , chemo, emergency lung tumor explosion and subsequent death, all in about a year. Now, I see Namaste and Art with an open heart. Like a thirsty narcissist. Can I make music. Can I make art
Can I sculpt
Can I dance
Throw sticks
Sing
Can I….


Where is the camp for metamorphic souls?
Be cool to bring a digester and make electricity or cooking fuel from biogas and organics
Could art do work?
Solar evaporation units for waste water concentration?


I miss Khai he was ten, it was his sixth ski season. Now his ashes dry my tears

Burning Man has been on my mind , for a bit . He died Oct 20th 2025 …hard to go alone. But I may.

One of the most beautiful projects in Black Rock City is the temple for mourning.

Your most available resource is to ask your question is in your https://regionals.burningman.org/. They have years in their network beyond their specific camps. Ask.

The BM org is busy, but are in a slack time now filling out forms and spreadsheets. You could send your message to placement at burningman dot org asking for camps that fit for parents who have lost children. Responding to that question is not their job. They may not respond. But they may respond.

Black Rock City and the temple are a great experience to process loss and meet people who are doing the same.

Definitely meet local Burners, as suggested. Can you do it alone? Yes, you can. But do you have to? Almost certainly not. Investigate, and you'll know what you need. There is of course just traveling with a local group. They may not be "a camp". A well-acquainted and experienced group can be nicer than an official camp, your first time out. I wasn't part of an official camp until my 6th Burn. I travelled with a group of 20, then a group of 3, then a duo, three times (but camped near friends). In 2011, I joined a camp, In 2014, I tried another just for a change and as a treat 'cause I was bringing a new person.
