2nd Timer, first-time solo
Hey y'all! 39M coming from Virginia (driving up from the Bay). I first came to the burn in 2024 and had an amazing time with a wonderful camp. Really just enjoyed wandering around deep playa and stumbling upon whatever magic there was. Snowcones were a hit too. I'm excited to be coming back out and look forward to seeing what open camping is like. Trying to balance planning enough vs not overdoing it (I'm deep down some rabbit holes on shade structures). Interested in connecting with others doing the open camping thing too. See you all in the dust!

I'd be interested to hear what your planning for shade satructures. Like what shade material you're using and how you support it. Always looking for a better way to do things. My Aluninet got the snot knocked out of it last year.
Rabbit holes are good unless you never find your way out. Even then.....
Cultural appropriation? Do I go over to your house during one of your BDSM sessions and slap the Nazi SS officer hat off of your head? - Bob

Thanks all for the welcomes!
And FlyingMonkey, I'm using metal conduit, connectors, a combo of 70% mesh and aluminet, and ratchet straps, with 3/8" x 12" lag bolts. I'll probably by some back up tarps at too jic. I want to try mesh this year over tarp, at least for sidewalls because I'm remember the tarp blocked the wind and actually made things a lot hotter and I think overhead tarps trapped in more heat too. I've seen mixed reviews about the aluminet but thought I'd at least give it a try. I would think coverings that can let some air through may not get as badly wrecked. I'm hoping to build a 20'x10' area, 8' tall. I was able to do a dry run on my own at home so that's deluded me into thinking I got a shot at building it on playa. Also open to learning, I'm sure there are better ways out there too
