Doomed Relationships
Sorry, just reading this thread and area for the first time. Kinetic, have a simple mathematical solution for you-- if you stop seeing all three of those ladies, you should be able to squeeze in one therapy session per week. Should be a lot less stressful getting to talk to a logical person for an hour a week instead of hearing the BS you've been subjecting yourself to. Good luck.
Be the change you seek in the world.

A lot has happened in one week around here especially when I get ticked off enough to not only act but push some things out of the way that were blocking me.
The Colorado woman is back in Colorado, and I hope she stays there a long time. If she comes back she gets more of the same. The woman at work has other issues and now she's off in her own private wonderland so I'm not important to her anymore. That leaves the last one who is actually turning out to be the diamond in the rough / princess in disguise type. Things are moving along quite well....and she's also helped by making her presence known and pushing the psychopathic one back to Colorado.
The more I'm with her, the more we find in common. She does want to get married sooner instead of later and I have no problems with that. And she wants kids, and with that we agree. It's really coming together now that the the distractions have been cut away. Yeah, it's only a week since all hell broke loose. Still, I'm 33 and this isn't your typical teenage relationship either. The way things are going, I could see me engaged to her. But then again my future is up in the air right now due to many things...as they say all bets are off as to what could happen next.
I'll shut up now but hopefully the psycho stays gone and things keep looking up around here...I've overpaid the karma gods this year, it's about time things go right for me.

Maybe a lot of relationships are doomed because they're looked at as preludes to marriage when they were in actuality just the person you were dating. Forcing such a relationship to go in that direction seems a sure way to put too much stress on it which will result in a nasty breakup, which will result in losing another friend. Seems to me there must be a better way.

i heartily recommend, somewhere during the engagement process, premarital counseling. it's kind of like marital counseling, except that you try to address potential issues before they become difficult to deal with.
it seems to be mainly a church thing, (since they have a vested interest in making marriages work out for the long term, as well as providing decent parents for all their little spawn), but you should be able to find non-religious versions if that's your preference.
it should help put a polish on the diamond in the rough, or at least let you know if it'll really happen.

I made this resolution a while ago and it has had mixed results. Often, now that I'm older and a little less horny, I don't expect to make love on the third date (that word). I think some woman have been put off by this or felt rejected. Once a woman thought we should move in after about 4 months and I said no, it's too early. I also think this put her off a bit. Nonetheless I feel more and more, "what's the hurry?"[/i]actiongrl wrote:I too have made a resolution to keep things casual longer...it is time to be happy on my own.

"Time to be happy on my own" I am, and it's good, but now I'm afraid to ruin it <g>. So I may have gone too far...oh well...at least life is simple now. I spent a long time improving myself, so if someone does come along at least the chances are better now for a more lasting relationship. But who can tell, it is all a risk, and that is what makes good relationships so awesome and rare. Kind of like a flower, the risk is putting yourself out there...it might work...or you may be eaten.
This train of thought leads me to think of some other sillyness, so I'd better stop (the thinking, not the sillyness).
