Let's say I'm going to go hang out with a fellah who has good reason (i.e. precedent) to think he'll get lucky.

At what point do y'all think it's a good idea to let him know that he still can but it'll be a bloody fucking mess in the most literal of ways?

I'm a guy, not a gal (clearly), but I appreciate the straight approach. Once I understood that my partner was OK with it then I was quite willing. Just about everything good about sex is a bit messy anyway.

quite honestly, I LIKE sex while I'm bleeding... my hormones are off the charts, my cervix is a little weighted down, making things feel different and new, and it's also a very accepting feeling, to have someone who is willing to not treat you like you have the fucking PLAGUE for a week...

and i agree... sex is meant to be messy...

just keep a towel nearby, and away we go!

I've never understood how someone can claim to love women and be unable to cope with one of the sacred signs of being a woman. The Red Tent should be a shrine and a place of honor.

I'm not a real doctor, but I play one on the playa...

Comment, we older guys might not be as nice to look at but there is something to be said for experience.
Sadly, I have not been hanging out with any for a long time. *sigh*
Last boyfriend/fiancee was 14 years older than me. I liked the age difference a lot. Then he died.

It was Donita's monkey. She says that she's found her true love. That's the real reason Brad and Jennifer split up. Monkey and Brad will be moving into the house that he and Jen bought on Bainbridge Island. If we need to get ahold of Monkey, we're supposed to send a Bananamessenger over on the ferry.
Yep, just got a postcard the other day. Alas, rumors are true. Monkey ran off with Brad, BUT she's secretly having a hot torrid affair with her TRUE love......Mr. Peepers!!!!

I guess he just read the Red Tent thread, so I don't actually have to say anything.

I'm not sure I still have an invitation to go hang out, though...

......didn't I already doodle on your forehead, I thought??? {gesturing toward shelf full of little pigment pots of varying colors, large vanity mirror} Not that it's required or anything like that. Make yourself at home! (What woman isn't welcome in a Red Tent?) Know anything about drinking pennyroyal tea?

Yes, you did doodle on my head! I didn't catch the hint though!

I don't know anything about pennyroyal, sorry. But as of Oct 14th no longer have need for any of that.

I want to tell you my story because it's kinda scary..........
Ok, so for well over a year I wasn't getting my period but maybe a couple times a year. I didn't have any medical insurance so I kept putting it off. Then when I hadn't had it at all for a year (no chance of being pregnant ;P) I went out and got insurance on my own. I called my doctors office and couldn't get in to see him because he was out of the country. So, I made an appoinmant with another doctor in the office(one that my aunt suggested). So, I got an appointment with her instead. I went and the first visit she was great, very caring and knowing (my other doc wasn't really) so I went, ended up getting a papsmear but it came back normal. Then my doc wanted me to have a biopsy. Have you ever had one? They freaking hurt like hell! The so-called small pich is BS!! It hurt so bad the doctor was like...breathe breathe breathe!! WOW! OK, so that came back inconclusive. She wanted me to get another one. NO WAY I said. She said, "I knew you'd say that. You'll have to go to a OBGYN." So, I made an appoinment with my OBGYN. Went in saw her and she said my best bet was getting a DNC where they put you under and it's done in an hour and you go home the same day.
Thank God I did! I had lots of polyps and the were atypical(low level cancerous) cells. Then my OBGYN said take these estrogen pills for 12 days and then stop you should get your period.(my body want making enough) If not to call her. I took them for 12 days and then spotted only when I woke up one morning. I waited 2 weeks and took the again for 12 days. I waited and....nothing. I called her (OBGYN) up and she said I should have a hysterectomy. So, I had an abdominal hysterectomy (7inch scar) took 6 weeks off from work. Thanks God I had that done too because the polyps had grown back in 3 months and now my uterus had atypical cells and was bad!!
So, ladies...I know that it is a long story but please take note.

here here, and way to take care of yourself. I had a positive pap once, ended up getting my cervix scraped with electrocautery to remove abnormal cells. Yuck. I get my pap yearly and they've all been good since (crossing fingers). My nurse-midwife and I suspect that I've got endometriosus, as well, but my periods are fairly regular, other than that they cycle between the new and full moons over a course of time (day or two earlier/later each month) but usually no drastic changes.

Probably I just got caught up in the spirit here or else just lost track of the moon phase, which isn't uncommon for me. (Low back ache day = ovulation day??? Am I that off?) Can't rule out hte possibility of that P word (shhh, don't say it out loud), however, as I have been proven fertile as a river delta.

I don't mind the pain so much, usually. It reminds me of the cycle, the connection to womanhood, connection to hte earth and moon, amazing to me, and a true blessing. And a reminder to nurture myself and tend my body's needs.
