I've often wondered why every picture of a northeast coast beach always includes those weird little picket fences that are always rotting away... What the hell are they for, anyway?

Nope, I'm afraid Sensei has no idea. I mean other than property demarcation or something like that... But I've never seen 'em on the west coast, and they're ALWAYS in the pics of the east coast (especially the northeast). What gives?

Oh, sorry Sensei. You got it though, property (get the fuck off) demarcation. We have these funny little fences on the west coast but they are not as prevalent.

Aha, they put up a cheap li'l fence because whatever they install will rot away anyway.. Still, it's always the same damn fence in every pic. Falling over thusly... I like 'em!

Uh, hi Sensei, I think that a lot of the unspoken motivation is about property line issues, the "snow fencing" is also supposed to keep the wind from eroding the dunes. At least, that's what the rich folk tell us. The fencse make pretty great sources for beach fires, so none of us freeeks really mind.

DVD - no Shinnecock immediately at hand, but I can provide in a bit. The inlet or the golf course or the tribal nation?

BulD, I once bought a motorcycle from a guy who ran a lingere shop in San Anselmo, or I think that's where it was. He kept the bikes in the shop with the skimpy frillies. I generally prep for the Playa with a friend who lives in Greenbrae. Nice country.

you know, we had a bucket like that backstage at our NYE gig... it was the pee bucket... see, the bathrooms were on the OTHER SIDE of the club.. and, well, there just wouldn't be time to go all the way there, and then come all the way back, so...

Pee Bucket.

the holiest site in islam. pilgims are just now arriving for the hajj. i didn't even realise it was going on, either.

sometimes i wish i was muslim just so i could be there, in mecca, when millions of people converge. it's supposed to be an amazing experience.

Nice!!! I'm about 1.5 miles from there.

San Quentin still to this day reminds me of a vacation resort from afar. thankfully that has been my only view of it...
