Holy crap you guys!
I'm away for barely a day and I come back to thousands of new posts! I can hardly keep up, much less try to get ahead...
In less than 24 hours, I slipped a notch in my "top ten posting status," not to mention everyone has new avatars of their asses!
Somebody please give me the "Pets Cliff Notes" version fo the last 24 hours...

Well I'm trying to keep my grip on No. 11 of the posters.
it's hard though, blyslv is on my tail constantly and clandy & flux are also not far behind.
Badger with No. 10 is way too forward, it's gonna be hard taking him, over.

Well the only reason why I am not posting more, is I cant fuckin remember what page i left off on. SO there are so many threads I have started reading but, fuck if i can remember where I left off. And I am not going to waste my time trying to figure it out. So i am totally lost and probably missing some great stuff. But fuck that shit.
So I will stick with my 16th position, until booker starts posting more.

Ding ding ding.
If anyone says anything really interesting in a thread I'm not actively
posting in, PM me so I know to go look. I've had it with the hunt and
peck method.
Saturday my computer crashed just after I logged in, so everything
since Friday early afternoon was marked read. I browsed around a
little yesterday, but fuck if I'm gonna try to go back and read all that
crap. Takes way too long.

> "Posts since last visit."
I find it completely fucking useless. Here's why:
1. It doesn't update *during* a visit, so I see everything since yesterday,
even if I've already read it. Back to the sift method. Ditto with the little
orange flag for "latest unread post." It's only the latest unread post as
determined by your status when you logged in. It never updates.
2. It doesn't retain anything between visits. So if my session times out,
or I log out, or my computer crashes, I have no way of knowing what I
read last time and what I didn't.
Yeah, I guess it's better than not retaining any read/unread status, but
with a system as high-volume and subdivided as this one, you need
something a bit more sophisticated.
I discovered something really cool this weekend that I'm trying to
duplicate, since it might be a bug. I hadn't logged in since Friday
afternoon. III had just finished reading stuff and had logged out.
I logged in, and was seeing his unread marks. That is, only stuff that was
new in the last fifteen minutes, even though it showed my last login time
as 24 hours previous. I refreshed the page a few times, because it tends
to cache the last post data/new post icon, but no change.

If I am logged in and have sifted, left the computer for a while and then check posts since last visit it is useful. After you read each post the forum will still be there but the star to the left will go white until it is posted to again. I am not sure that new forums posted to get updated but I was of the impression that they do. If you log out you're screwed, it thinks you read everything on the list.
That's the only use I've gotten out of it.

Then its functionality is different than it was three weeks ago, when it
didn't update ever unless you logged out (and then you've lost anything
else you hadn't read). I'll have to check it out again.
