Me blather too.... simply because it is a semi-focused, deep into the psyche, kind of morning, where the rules of language seem to have slipped the surly bonds of earth and space/time, and the only borders of Definition seem to be manned by fascists and morons.

... I need to ease up on the coffee...

Yep. Lampie's rain just hit here, and it's getting ugly outside. Early a.m. was actually warm and the sun came out sort-of when i went up to check the ocean. Those houses i was worrying about yesterday have not fallen in, but they may still go at high tide. Or not. Now someone tells me that the temperature is supposed to drop to 16 overnight. Could be ice boating weather yet. Or not. All of this said, i feel fuckin' great this morning. Nothing like finding out what you really need in a day, a life, to brighten the horizon no matter the weather.

Good morning, ya fuckos. I love you all. Well, maybe not Black Rock Ric.

Lovely trip across the Bay Bridge this morning.
The skies were basically clear, but there was a fog bank on the lower slopes of Tam, so she really looked like a "Sleeping Maiden" not like a sleeping maiden melded into a giant piece of luxury chocolate.

This is a picture of the construction cranes that I get to watch on my way across the bridge 8 times a week.

Just the east span. Because it broke in Loma Preata and isn't siesmically sound. It's a huge scandel right now because of cost. I just hope I'm not on the darn east span during another bigger quake and get killed.

I love the whole construction thing--it's amazing to watch it. They have about 10 of those cranes and sometimes they are all higgledy-pigglety and somethings they are all line up perfectly--"like the rockettes" says one of hte neighbors. I take the bus home in the evening and get to look at the progress as it happens.

Yeah, I remember Loma Preata... my brother was behind home plate at Candlestick when it struck. All he could do was look up at the upper deck, hoping it wouldn't fall. It took him six hours to drive from the park down to San Jose....

I'm still curious about how they pour the mud (concrete) for those footings. Are they precasting those and dropping them in place? That would make sense... barge them out and drop them... and I love the symetry of the cranes... very cool...

They had these huge pieces blocked off and pumped out the water and I think that they poured the concrete into that. Poke around on that sight and look, because the've been doing a lot of construction photos. (You and I are not the only ones who get into that sort of stuff.) They've been barging in I think sections of the freeway and then attaching them to each other after they are in place. There's like 15 barges just sitting there in the bay next to the project. Maybe I should become a Caltrans groupie and like wait for the guys to get back to their trucks and mob them. "Oh you must be so strong to work those big cranes. . ." that sort of t hing.

Yeah, those guys go for that sort of thing...

I used to drive a concrete truck and I was wondering how they got the mud from the batch plant to the footings... unless they just put a batch plant on a barge and take it too the footings... dunno'...
