Gigglesnort asked:
On purpose?
Yes and no...been trying to get my weight down for several years now, and then last summer the colitis that's been lurking around my DNA finally woke up (thank YOU, Gramma!). Without doing a TMI thing, let's just say that my absorption rate isn't what it ought to be and I'm drawing off the stored energy.

The good news is, I can treat myself to a mug of hot chocolate every day and I'm right on track for a target weight of 200# by this summer (I am NOT going to lose it all — I like being Rubenesque, dammit, and my 1400-pound half-Friesian horse can handle it!). The bad news is, I can't eat nuts  It hurt facing the rest of my life sans hazelnuts and pistachios...

Oh, D’oT

There’s other things, beside mast to forage.

But I gotta admit... nuts are pretty grand.

What could you substitute, I wonder?

Croutons?

It's slowed down and left me alone for the past few days, we'll see how long that lasts...

I can't have whole grains either, so not only nuts (walnuts excepted), I can't have: sesame seed (a lot more ubiquitous than one would think), flaxseed (which I've come to lovelovelove), rolled oats, barley outside of soup, pumpkin seeds... :x

Everyone loves Rubenesque women! :) Wish I knew how to post pictures on this forum, got some beautiful shots of my horse about a month ago...including a couple where he actually posed. Heh...those Frieslanders, they're such hams :)[/img]

Doctor said, "No nuts, no whole grains," but I'm thinking of trying flaxseed meal and tahini. The doctor said that nuts are too hard to digest so I'm guessing it's the chunks that turn my guts into knots.

Croutons — yeah, fortunately I'm not gluten-intolerant...that would riotously suck because I can't stomach quinoa, not sure if I could handle flaxseed meal and potato and rice bread are too bland for my palate, which means I'd have to go through life on cornbread alone...but the thought of chocolate-covered croutons isn't as appealing as chocolate-covered hazelnuts (though I do like chocolate-covered pretzels :9). I remember a couple years ago when I was baking for my camp and a bunch of my campmates squawked, "We can't have wheat!" so I made a gluten-free pizza dough...which turned into a fabulous disaster...

I've been indulging my crunchy-appetite with crackerbread and penny candy, though I'm not a great one for processed sugar, either. Pretty much I leave the peppermints for my horse, who loves 'em.

The Nutella I can live without, it's giving up the gianduja and coconut prawns that hurt

Then again, the hazelnuts in gianduja is ground to micro-fine paste which might be easier than sharp-edged hard-to-digest nuggets bouncing around in me poor ittwe guttiwuts.

And my favourite rib shack up here serves up buckets of peanuts, the shells of which you can toss on the floor...haven't been back since I got the bad news and it's gonna be weird telling my friend/favourite waitress, "Nope, can't do nuts anymore."

To give you a sneak-peek at BayCon's view...I have ribs and defined shouldercaps and triceps now :)

Who's Yohannon? I guess there's your answer...

I do have a long-range dream of commissioning Alex Grey http://www.alexgrey.com to do an equestrian portrait of Meritage and myself. Then again he probably wouldn't do the tattoos, except maybe as a ghostly transparent image floating over the muscles, bones and ligaments...
