Sad as hell, ain’t it?fuckin eighties music on hte classic music station now???
"Hungry like the wolf"... Holy shit... I remember watching that video on WTBS out of Atlanta on "NightTracks". I think of mostly Asia, Duran Duran, Jackson Brown, Toto, etc... the rest is just a hazy memory of a time I just happened to grow up through.I don't have any particular affection for a lot of early 80s pop.
Heh, Heh... I hear ya', there gigglesnort... I gotta get up at 7am... installation in Louisville tomorrow...{YAWN} OH, excuse me. {stretch, blink blink stare}

Doesn't look like they're getting any closer to you than Louisville this tour.... :-/gigglesnort wrote:Focused....yeah.... I was so focused back in the day, with a handwritten dossier on each band member, a shrine of Tiger Beat et al posters covering two walls, and every album ever recorded.....such a deep sadness that I never saw them live. Sixth grade and thereabouts, that would be.
This'll be my third time seeing them live; I saw them in '87 (supporting Notorious) and in '89 (for Big Thing). Wonderful shows both times.
God, I'm remembering things now.... The '87 show was the same day The Living Daylights opened in the States - so they opened the concert with "A View to a Kill" (which I'll confess is my all-time favorite Bond theme, and my second-favorite Bond song {"Where Has Everybody Gone" from Living Daylights taking that slot}).
Oh, dear, I'm getting into nested parentheticals again....

I already closed the TicketBastard tab in my browser, sorry. Late March/early April, methinks. The show I'm going to is March 2, and they head east from there....LeChatNoir wrote:What?!?!?! Oh, Kee-rist
It’s waxing perilously close to 3am here and I gotta get up and get to work at 7am
Oh well... what, cha’ gonna do, huh?
Until next we meet again, Goodnight, Sweet Dreams, Peace and Love to you and yours, my friends.
I'll keep the full-on, ugly mug up until sunday am, I guess... in reference to the "Be Yourself Day" thread.

A person who shits on anothers dreams is usually digging for a way to make them feel better about their own social inadequecies. The first time my father told me he was proud of me was when I was 22. Can you imagine 22 years without any real sense of knowing if you were accepted by one of the most influential figures of your life. He has slowly come to learn that he cannot force his shortcomings or inability to follow his dreams upon my life. I learned over years to stop sharing my dreams with those negative people. I only share my successes and try to learn from my failures.blueniteowl wrote:Why do people always have to shit all over other peoples dreams? Why can't people just be happy for other people?
That is my late night wisdom for ya. Your mileage may vary.

PS I think I am out for the night. Thanks for all who listened in. If I am stuck home tomorrow expect more.

I agree with what spinner said. I think my mom is pretty bitter about how her life turned out. She is very smart and wanted to travel. Instead she ends up being a single mom in the 60's which was a lot harder then than it is now ... went to work in a local factory and stayed there till retirement. She had dreams she never got a chance to chase. I think at this point she might be afraid to. I don't know. I think it would be good for her, though. Mom, chase those dreams. It's never too late.

And all of this just reminded me of something. My mother wrote to me the other day and told me she have been elected to a position in her church (Episcopal). I just wrote to her and told her that I was so proud of her for reaching a goal that ment so much to her.

Yea, I think my mom is like his dad. She always has something negative to say. She just never cares to know about my real life, problems or dreams. I know she doesn't care because she has told me so herself. I know I wasn't the easiest child to raise, but at the same time I didn't have problems on purpose. She has no excuse not to support me. She recently went back to college and is moving in a different direction in her life. I don't know maybe its because I don't have "normal" dreams like my two older sisters. (Both who are teachers and lead perfect american dream lives)
