Oh, and there is no such thing as "prunes" anymore. If you look you will see they have been renamed "dried plums"

Which has always made me wonder ...

since prunes are dried plums ... how could they have juice?

Then I remembered Becky, an old friend of mine ... she is pretty dry, but she has juice. Then it all made sense.

If I get any calls, tell 'em I'm not here. I'll be over in the non-tobacco smoking section kicking the gong around and using the computer to look for ways to move to B.C.

Move to B.C.???? Why would anyone in their right mind want to move to a place with lower salaries and higher taxes? What we should do is get more Canadians to move HERE ... and VOTE.

I've thought about it. It would mean getting healthcare...

Healthcare, smellthcare... It's all about the Amsterdam cafe for me. And the way those cute young babes broke out their best stuff for us Santas a few weeks back. I just became enchanted with the the idea of living there right there and then.

I suppose if you have NO healthcare it is better than nothing. But I am not hearing glowing reports about Canada's system. Many of their people come here and pay out of pocket if they can for major procedures. It gets done better and faster.

I have no healthcare.

The last time I went to the doctor (the *first* time in many a year because I'm fucking poor and will likely always be fucking poor) a friend took me and paid for it, for which I'm eternally grateful.

If I break my leg tomorrow I'm fucking screwed. I don't give a shit if people in Canada have to wait years to get a mole removed. A serious injury *here* has me totally fucked.

Something would indeed be better than nothing.

Um... oopsie y'all... don't mean to get all political in the Bar but I'm in a shitty ass mood...

I understand. no medical insurance is a bitch here. And probably the partially the cause of high medical costs. People have insurance, insurance companies have lawyers. Insurance companies don't like to pay if they dont have to and generate a lot of lawsuits when it benefits them. If EVERYONE had to pay for medical care out of their own pockets, it would be a lot less expensive, I think.

Me too. Our company has very good benefits and is accepting of domestic partnerships regardless of orientation so all my loved ones are covered. I am thankful for that but it does sadden me that there isn't a better system for those that aren't as lucky.
