I've been reading McCaffrey almost as long as I've been alive.... I just picked up the Pern novel she and her son co-wrote. It was good, but not worth the utterly usurious price - I mean really, eight bucks for a 200ish-page paperback?!
Todd's writing the next one on his own; it'll be interesting to see what direction he takes the series in.

I hear you Purple. That one wasn't worth the high price. I haven't read the last one. I won't shell out for a hardcover. I like PB's.
OH!! Broke it in!! Oh, good!!
The Crystal Singer series was pretty good.

(Walks in slowly with ass dragging behind)
Good evening folks. Actually morning in my time zone. I can’t even begin to catch up on the 20 pages that appeared in my absense, just too damn tired.
So... what’s new in the old bar tonight? Solve any major world problems? And how bout a good dark beer, barkeep. Your choice and give one to whomever else might need a refill... my treat.

I have yet to try, actually. Can't tell you why. Haven't read the Freedom stories, either - but in that case I can explain it:blueniteowl wrote:Purple what did you think of the acorna series? I must say that I couldn't even get through the first one.
The short story that Anne* expanded to make Freedom's Landing was written in the late 60's to cash in on the lucrative soft-core porn market. ("The Thorns of Barevi," originally published in 1970, collected in Get Off The Unicorn.) My disbelief suspenders don't stretch that far, sadly.
*I've exchanged snail letters and email with her on and off over the last 20 years, inheriting my mother's pen-pal relationship with her; I think I can drop names. *grin*

*laughs* My online persona in Reality Camp (IOW, any non-Bman-related online venue) is K`shandra; it was Killashandra for years and years, but the IRC channel where I was hanging out had a nine-character limit for screen names.Martiansky wrote:The Crystal Singer series was pretty good.

That’s what you are, Blue.
So How did the day treat you, Zulegoona, Blue, et.al.?
Sensei's home... home and dry is always good.

That's my story too. I found it on e-slay for not-too-much and it sounds like it, but hey, it's a purple flute!PurpleKoosh wrote:I actually didn't notice it was purple; I just noticed it was a flute. ;-) (Played for years; got out of it after I graduated HS.)
I'll take a margarita if anyone's servin'. Thanks.

Ahh...
Went as well as could be expected. Not bad by any means, mind you. I dropped off and was paid for the two tables I created. That was good.
Then I went to the record shop to kill time before meeting my bud. I had two things in mind when I went in there:
1) Stoppiing in wouldn’t make me late for meeting up with friends
2) I wouldn’t spend any money.
I was wrong on both accounts...
The biggest drag of the day was the installation.. Or rather re-installation of some railing sections. The powder coater I used to use botched the job, the powder is flaking off and now I’ve got to dismount, sandblast, paint, and rehang some 225 feet of rail. Said powder coater is now out of business, not much suprise there. Today was rehanging the first 6 sections to be refinished and dismount 6 more... 38 more sections to go!!!
But all in all, it really wasn’t that bad, really. I take stuff like that in stride... ain’t nuttin’ but a thang.
(Grinning my sly “sneer” over the top of my fresh Guiness)
Hey, Z... any day with the critters is a good day as far as I'm concerned.
And PK, I've only read one of Terry Pratchett's books... Small Gods. Very good read... When my brother gave it to me, He inscribed on the inside cover, "A very important book cleverly disguised as a bit of fantasy fluff". Spot on...
