Open Hailing Frequencies!

Post by robotland » Mon Jan 17, 2005 11:39 am

(Is it a little early to be considering this? Probably. ANYWAY:)

Since CB radios never resurfaced the way that certain awful fashion aspects of the 70's did, I suggest that it might be handy/convenient/fun to assign a default FRS radio frequency for "international burner hailing channel" while travelling this great country's highways and byways.....This would enable us to say hello, at least over short distances, and a single channel wouldn't get TOO crowded while out on the highway....I suggest channel 3, code 3; My only reasoning is that there's a lot of open squawk on channel one, since many folks never bother to change channels, and, as Schoolhouse Rock tells us, "three is a magic number". Code three is just easy to remember- same as the channel. Feedback? Notes? Critique?

I also think it'd be fun to loosely schedule a Burner Rendezvous along the way.....There are many good places for burnfolk to converge along I-80, for example.....
