borg2 registrants
borg2 registrants
Voting for the Art Council ends tonight at midnight. If you registered, you should go vote, the turnout is less than 30% so far. BORG2 is, despite what you may have heard, a sincere effort to work together with the LLC to improve the event.
Or at least it will be if the right people get elected. You can go to BattleBorgs.tribe.net to see candidates ideas without all the detritus.
I am running, but really want to see Rachel and Harriet on the council. It needs a woman's touch, and these two women are organized, thoughtful and hardworking. They are not cynical whiny old farts, and they need your votes to defeat the forces of evil.

I thought you were already appointed to that post for life. Or did you forget to go to the confirmation hearings again?

Art votes
One of the most signifigant ideas is for the community at large to participate by voting on the projects that will recieve grants. This year they will be grants of money raised independently, and not taken from ticket proceeds.
As it has in past years, in 2005, the BMorg will give over $200,000 to artists in grants based on judgements of merit by Larry, Ladybee and Crimson. Larry has agreed that if the democratic process being developed by the borg2 experiment works, that is if we suceed in manifesting enough interesting and exciting art, then they will adapt the process for the whole event.
That means that in the future, you all will have some say in the nature of the artwork that is funded form your ticket payments. Do register, and do you in the upcoming elections to select grant recipients. And do submit proposals for projects. Unlike BMorg grant, perfomance art, non-themed art, and non-interactive art will be allowed to compete equally for grants.
