I got it off a location scouting website for oakland. But we all know that those film types will substitute Teranto for New York at the slightest provacation.bullD wrote:the top photo looks like Pier 80 in SF

9+ kid party. All i had to do was a cake for them. But being my normally cheerful self (oh shut it!) I helped them with getting them more water, spoons, other things, lighting the candles on the cake. etc etc etc.
What do you supposed after they finish up.. I will see 0 in tips. I wasnt working the party per se.. but I was the only one there to help them. It was just a room reservation. But.. Blah. I had to do a lot for them. And so far all i got was a thank you and a pat on the back.
well yippe skippy. cant say I can spend that pat on the back anywhere.

It was just a cake order/room reservation. As long as they spend 30$ they can use our party room.
Normally we arent supposed to do anything. Just get the cake out. But with this party.. i was doing more than i should of.
So.. oh well. I was nice.and sometimes thats all i get. I just think if someone goes out of thier way to do a lot more for you at a restauarnt, that something other than a thank you should come out of it.
but then.. i'm just a selfish bitch i guess.

I agree, Reba... as far as Im concerned, gratuity is deserved if you've gone above and beyond.... and*that* certainly qualifies...
you know, when I was waitressing in the midwest, I would have these huge families come in and leave these huge messes... crushed food on the floor, spilling things, screaming children, all of it. I started just taking a rag or floor sweeper over and saying "here, it looks like you'll need this" very sweetly...

You wanna know the worst of it. they left the room completly trashed.. and when they walked out they waved to my manager saying "I think we got most of it"GuinivereElise wrote:I agree, Reba... as far as Im concerned, gratuity is deserved if you've gone above and beyond.... and*that* certainly qualifies...

Cake melting all over the table, spilled water everywhere, scotch tape still stuck all over the place, other food products (not of our store smeared into the chairs. He said he had to take an hour just to clean that room.

Ok.. not an annoyance, but it's about work...
Almost a year ago, a spat with a cowoker nearly cost me my job. (I had a problem with him saying that my little six year old friends are terrorists and told him to please stop saying it... so i got in trouble.) We've barely talked since, though we haven't been at war for ages.
He's leaving the company in a few days. He came up to me this morning and started talking about the whole thing - how years ago we had been friends, then things went to hell. He double checked to make sure there are no hard feelings.
Tres cool. A good note upon which to wave goodbye...
