Geekster, is tha tlike the frozen pellet icecream? They put it in a centerfuge and spin it out and it freezes in tiny pellets. Really cold, but tasty!

Fresh is nice and I will go for it if we take an RV. If I am tent camping I will plan to go with canned. Things to remember are to keep fresh fruits and eggs out of meltwater from the ice. Eggs in particular have porous shells that allow germs, smells, ick, etc. to pass through. Soggy veggies are no fun either. Frozen mets and veggies kept with dry ice are okay.

I wore it around my neck at night on the playa shinning more down so it wouldn't shine in peoples eyes when I talked to them. usually with the red led light on.

I have to get up in the morning so I need to go, I should go outside and shovel out my van before I go to bed, but I'm not going to. Y'all have a good night, I'll probably be around some time tomorrow,

headstrap light and glow sticks will be important this year, there will be no moon and the playa and streets will be pitch black. If you have a bike, but a blinky on it. Font and back. Glowsticks around your neck and/or wrists will help keep you from getting run over by bikes too.

Not sure what flavor to get....mixed berry sounded good.
My favorites were (in order) orange, and lime. I didn’t care for the mixed berry myself. I drink it now instead of cola. good to ween off that stuff anyways. Gotta keep hydrated in the shop, you know.

NEB, you say? The fire should have dried it out form the snow...

I'll stoke it up some...

oh and a water for me thanks...

No really I have to go,.. the snow has stopped for now anyway.

M there are places galore in the land of fishing trips that have dry Ice, check a bait shop.
do a search for dry Ice there is a thread that tells about good things and bad things about using it it sounds like the multi cooler method works the best where you only get into the dry ice cooler once a day, and keep most of your stuff in an ice cooler.

Msky, did you ask about dry ice?

You can get it at the local welding supply shop (check yellow pages). But it’s a bit tricky to deal with. Freezes stuff supper hard and it sublimates (the equivalent of melting in normal ice) which means as the surface of it raises in temperature, it turns back into a gas.... it’s frozen CO2... very very cold (-130F seems to ring a bell, but don’t quote me on that).

Thanks blue!! snack away...

Welding shop...really? HHMM, there's one down the block.
Isn't that what they use to make fog? Put chunks into hot water and it steams? Cool!

We used dry ice last year. There are plenty of sources of it in Reno too. We basically had three types of coolers at our camp. The frozen with dry ice, refrigerated with ice, and leftovers that were cool but not kept more than a few hours.

We had some burlap bags that we used for dessication of wet trash. Toss food waste in one and hang it up and in a couple of days burn the contents.

but if it rains, all bets are off. Evaporation and dessication arent going to work. But at least a shower is easy. Rain is your worst nightmare on the playa.

Good advice, since a cross country drive will give it time to completely off-gas in most cases.
