Search Function Results too broad

Post by Mr. Fixit » Sat Jan 22, 2005 1:57 pm

If you search for a word or phrase, the results show you the tread where the word was found. HOWEVER, the thread may have many, many pages and you must scroll through each and every page looking for the highlighted search word. This makes the search engine useless! Can't the Search Engine show just the actual page or post with the keyword/words??

It's not obvious, but under "Display results as:", if you select [x]Posts rather than [ ]Topics, individual posts are shown.

Bob,
You are my new hero. You answered my stupid question without makeing me feel stupid. Sometimes we cannot see the forest for the trees. I looked all over that damn search page and never saw that "obvious" desplay results choice.
I tried it out and I am now a happy camper! Thanx again. Mr. Fixit

Using an asterisk as a wildcard character (eg, burn the fuck*) sometimes helps, too.

Bob,
Thanx again, I will try that. Also, did you notice that I updated my avatar. I don't know why my old avatar went away since the last time I logged on.
