Purple Koosh is on the other side of the bar so I'll just run in and drop off a huge plate of freshly baked double chocolate chip cookies for everyone! She doesn't see me come and go except for the door swinging closed as I depart. I need to get back to packing things up.

(Thank gawd for caffeine and chocolate! Part of the essential food group!)

Yea, it really sucked. The car was totalled and I only had injury insurance. Thank god I was still on my parents plan though. The car was still in my dad's name. They gave it to me four years ago and I just paid them for the insurance. Anyways that allowed me to get 40 grand instead of the usual 20. Which I'm very thankful for because I didn't have health insurance and my bill was over 40 grand. But now I'm on state funded health insurance.
The car wasn't too much of a loss though. It was a '91 Ford Tempo, that had a ton of mileage on it.

Well, I am glad you were (somewhat) okay. Cars can be replaced... BNOs cannot.

I am going to bed everyone. Doctor is going to remove my stitches in the morning. Thankfully.

Goodnight.

*helping herself to a cookie*

I'm doing a little better. The cough still sounds hideous (Geekster got a demo of it this afternoon when he stopped by and was suitably appalled).

Was supposed to have someone off Freecycle show up today and pick up my ollllllllllllllllllllllllld loveseat, so I can finally assemble the futon frame that's kicking around in my garage currently; I never heard from her, by phone or email, and I know I sent her both. :-P

I wasn't appalled. In fact, it sounded like a typical cough that is in recovery. Believe me I have had bad ones too. I had whooping cough about 3 years ago and I thought I was going to die. I think I broke a rib coughing.

Here's a question for everyone. You're moving to a new place and have room for a small bar. Unlike the bar we have here which can be stocked with anything, this new bar has limited space. What essentials would you keep stocked? It already has the tequila, vodka, whisky, rum, and the wine choices covered. But what else? Or is that plenty?

drambuie, bitters, jagermeister, and a brandy ... maybe a port or cream sherry too.

Kaluha and your Irish-cream-liqueur of choice (Carolan's has a lovely, clover-y/heather-y taste to it, though I do prefer Bailey's overall). Creme de Menthe and Creme de Cacao. Grenadine. Blue curacao. And perhaps a bottle or two of (fitb) schnapps.

I admit I have become quite the fan of "rusty nails" lately. Shot of Drambuie and a shot of Scotch over ice in a bucket.

Glayva can be substituted for Drambuie ... if you can find it. I know ONE place in the south bay that has it ... and I am NOT telling where it is :)

It is made from scotch whisky, honey, heather, spices, citrus ... it is awesome. Very sweet and a little thick, serve it either over a lot of ice or with a shot of scotch.

There is a place near me that used to carry it, a place on Sunnyvale/Saratoga road (AKA DeAnza Blvd) at Prospect at the Cupertino/Saratoga limits. It is called The Coach House but I told people about it and they ran out and are unable to get any more. There is another place that I happened to go into over the holidays and there on the top shelf all dusty, I found 6 bottles of it so I bought one and am keeping my mouth shut about the rest.

The Coach House is really cool, though, because they stock damned near everything and they have the most AWESOME wines. They have a special every week and sometimes I find the most OUTSTANDING merlot there from obscure little wineries for under $10 a bottle. They had one that was just pure gold for only $4.00 a bottle. I bought a bottle, fell in love, went back to buy a case and it was all gone, and they had 4 cases on the floor when I bought that bottle. Very cool place.

Maybe you were thinking of Sambuca? Clear and tastes somewhat like licorice or anise? Often served on fire with coffee beans floating in it?

Sake? I've never had it and don't know the first thing about it except it's from Japan and drank warm.
