if I worked there the inventory would be wiped out in no time, I'd be too tempted. Besides the earliest I can get up there is the middle of February with all that's happening so that won't do you any good.

My car of 14 years, the Nephthys Navajo, died this weekend due to several major and concurrent systems failures and I had to find a way to get 110 miles home, where I got lurched. ABS, cylinder heads, coolant in the oil, any number of gaskets, even some of the wiring harnesses all failed at once.

Right now, my future can best be described as "indefinite and amorphous freefall." If I give up EVERYTHING except the business, I might be able to scare up $10,000 to replace her and what'll that get me? Ahhhhmmm, maybe I can find a nice little buckboard wagon in decent shape and hitch Meritage up to it? Yeah, do the Amish thing, black or blue skirts down to the ankles and weird lil' bonnet, why the fuck not?!

And the fucking cat just stepped on the lid to the CD player and sprung it open, interrupting my music. FUCK!!!

Yeah, I'm fine...I'm the type that keeps an even keel when the situation is happening, then once I'm in a secure location I go ballistic...I guess cars and their humans develop a symbiosis after a fashion...first my car blows all her gaskets, then I blow mine :blush:

I got a train ticket and came home that way. I tried desperately not to think whenever we passed a junkyard because it still hurts to think that my Nephthys Navajo is going there...with all her neat stickers and memories and dings...

In truth, I count myself as exceptionally fortunate. I have lots of friends up in Portland who took as good care of me as could be asked for under the circumstances and I owe every single one of 'em a debt of gratitude.

don't worry koosh. My boyfriend had not idea where or what we were going to. I just told him the stuff we'd need. He didn't read the survivial guide, I just told him the pertinent bits. And it all turned out fine. Although i'm sure that partly depends on personalities.

He's already said there's no way he can get that much time off from work, though. (For that matter, I have no clue what my employment situation is going to be at that point - in a perfect world, I'll still be working temp assignments for enough money that I can take two weeks, but I'd best not hold my breath.)

And the really fucked part of this is I want to whine at the ex about it, because I KNOW he understands...and I can't bring myself to pull him up on IM. fuck.

The fucking scans look like complete shit. The flatbed is fucked, too. If it weren't for digital we'd all be fucked. Fucking high school paper's got better images this week than we do. Fucking crap for film stock, too.

the above was a response I got on tribe. A newbie asked a question about what bearing the borg1 v borg2 fight would have on him if he wanted to bring art. I replied that he could what I and most of the other artists out there are likely to do; just ignore it all and bring whatever he wanted. He thanked me for the info. I misread that tribe thing and thought it said ride TO burning man. It says you are assured to ride ON the fucking thing.

Anyway, they could probably give you a lift anyway, so could we but I don't know yet if we are leaving from here or from vegas. They generally leave here on Saturday morning the week before man fall and leave the event on Monday evening after.
