I confess that since discovering Soulseek on the weekend I'm quickly becoming a Soulseek junkie.

Would anyone like to be my Soulseek friend so we can get our fix faster and together? Please, I'm begging you, help me before I go to dial up...

I confess that I want to volunteer to be Velvet's friend but I can't tell from the site what this means. On another subject, I have been on the Borg2 Tribe for about two months and do not have a single 'friend' there and this makes me feel like a loser. I further confess that I hope Rian's in a petting mood today. I need it.

Soulseekl rocks. I need to get my internet at home working right again. It is all fucked up. I think it is the modem. Once I get it working right I will give ya my Soulseek name.

And Bucket if you are on Tribe track me down. I am on there as Jason Philips. Tribe is a favorite place of mine.

Jason

PS My confession is that I really do not want to work today.

omg i tried to log on to eplaya as 'soulseek'...loooser!

Soulseek is a file (music) sharing program, like napster was but waaaaaaaaay better and easier to use and i think it's somehow less illegal? dunno, don't care.

To be my friend on soulseek you'd need to be a soulseek user. It's a free program, although it does accept donations. If you donate $5 a month, you get to be special, which means you get priority over non-donators when trying to download files (I donated last night, I'm special now). We'd put each other on our user lists. Then, if you want to download a file from me and there's other people already doing it, because you are my friend, you'd get to go to the front of the line. Having friends is going because there can be lots of people in line to get music files from you, so it lets you butt in to the front of the line.

You can also send messages to people who you are downloading from via a chat section of the program, so you can ask people about their music selection so see what you might be interested in and just say hi and thanks or whatever.

Sammich, let me know when you get going. I'm also sparkletarte on soulseek.

I confess that whlie I browse tribe and look at the people, I don't join. I think it would take up too much time and I'm afraid no one would be my friend and I'd be a loser like buckethead. not. hahaha.

Join up. Tribe is addictive for the first week or two but it levels off and Tribe becomes a great place.

I confess that, from the sounds of it, I like Limewire better... Thanks BHA...

I further confess that I'm on Tribe, on the Virgin project that Geekie started, and that, currently, I have only 2 friends...

I confess that this doesn't bother me in the slightest...

I have used Limewire and several other services but Soulseek is the best one I have found. There are tons of rare music gems that cannot really be found elsewhere.

PS Guini track me down on Tribe. I am easy to find.

I confess that, as copyright holder, and as someone who has had their copyrights stolen, I ask all of you to please support the artists you enjoy by lawfully purchasing their music. And, don't give me any of that bullshit about how the music business sucks. Believe me, I know that better than most folk on this big hunk of rock.

If you dig it, buy it.

I buy a lot of music on vinyl and if you know any dj you can imagine the quanities. I download to preview usually. If I download, I listen, and if I like, I buy on vinyl. Vinyl is my mistress.

I confess that I do enjoy dling music for free. I don't have a big problem with the music business so I won't give you any bullshit about it. I do buy some music, mostly from dj's and other musicians who I've gone to see, and supported them by paying to get into their show.

If I really like something I will buy it or something else from the musician or I'll pay to go see them. I'd rather pay for a show than a cd. However, the majority of the stuff I have been dling I wouldn't buy because I either can't get it here or it costs too much. Buying cds (and a lot of other things) tends to be out of my financial ability at this point in my life.

i confess that the words 'always' and 'never' set off alarm bells in me.

i further confess that since i've taken to chatting with my other new addiction, i'm less inclinded to use caps and full words. i'll try to edit myself when the difs, obvs, and whtevs else start coming out. don't worry tho i won't start using smilies and 'lol' (although i did use 'omg' earlier).

I confess, or profess, that in using words like "always" and "never" when speaking of stealing from others, one must have decent moral values. Excuse me while I try to lead a virtuous life.

We used to buy CDs at the Valletta markets all the time. About 98% of the ones sold on the streets were rip offs of major US hits. You actually had to go inside a store to get originals.

I'm still not sure of how much I picked up in the M.E. is original. But hell, that's what's there in the stores. It's a whole different way to create local business.

I confess that I didn't mean to imply anything about what you were saying bullD and rian, just thinking about those words in general and certain ways they get used.

When I referred to always and never, I was thinking more in general, like when people go off on how something 'always' or 'never' happens to blah blah blah...people thinking that life controls them and things happen to them rather than recognizing their own choices and how their choices are responsible for what happens in their lives.

I confess (situational ethics aside) that I'm very much in the habit of downloading music.

What I usually do is a google search for something like "best albums of 2004." I follow the links, make a list, and check out what a good number of people are saying or pay attention to groups/albums that I see have a repeating pattern of being mentioned.

Using Acquisitions (for Mac) I'll download songs from a particular album. If I like it I'll buy it but after a few listens (usually 2-3) I'll delete the file if I don't like it.

Because my tastes tend to run somewhat off the mark of popular Top 40 shite the chances of me hearing any of these tracks is usually non-existent. I'm not inclined to fork out $18 for a CD on the vague recommendations of critics or reviewers as I've been burned TOO many times. So yeh, I download and I listen and I purchase or I delete. In my mind this is the perfect model for consumers and artists and I find myself wondering the hows and whys that RIAA are so feverishly objecting to when people like myself seeking out music that they actually like v. the pablum that we're continually having shoved down our throats by over-hyped bands that have nothing to say (or sing).

I confess that I have snuck into shows, concerts, and bars to see bands that were well worth the cover. I confess that I have downloaded music in the past without paying for it or caring. I confess that before that I shoplifted LPs, casettes and CDs. I also confess that after I copied them I sold them and bought various substances I could not figure out how to steal.

I also confess that I am a liar.
