Ok I have given Badger and Sensi a chance and I would like the admins to take action.
Badger and Sensi have both violated the TOS/and CG several times

.Sensi with this:

The stupidity of this asshat know no bounds.

and badger hypocritically with what has been posted by me earlier in this thread. If Calsur can be suspended for calling BRR an idiot and Badger go to the admin about it and they do something about it, I would like the same courtesy and respect in return.

Thanks very much.

I want to make a formal and public complaint about Badger's conduct on the eplaya. I feel his posts to DVD Burner and Tancorix are abusive, harassing and they clearly violate the eplaya Terms of Service. DVD Burner asked a good question: Is Badger above the e-playa rules? If I was DVD Burner and Badger's account is not suspended I would consider contacting local law enforcement and recommend he take measures to protect himself.

Cardinal darling, with only 15 posts under your belt here maybe you might want to hold back on demands for adminstrative action(s).

Nothing mandatory. Just a suggestion. Sit back. Maybe hang out. You know, do some laundry. Make sure your socks are clean and such.

Welcome to e-playa BTW.

My post count has nothing to do with this. You have no right to terrorize people and have them running scared.

At this time I have no complaints about Badger that would warrant any admin intervention. I do not support this request and ask that I be left out of it. Thank you.

Cardinal, I am certainly not scared of Badger or anyone else on this board. I've been around here for years, I know how things work and how most of the regulars are. I appreciate your concern...but I would give Badger's suggestions to you another look.

Does anyone have a suggestion for the Badger that may help him to stop badgering me?
I do, I do

Badger, try really really hard to do the following. I do (not always successfully).

Try to ignore the shameless thread bumping that is incredibly disruptive to conversation on this board
Try to ignore the empty posts
Try to ignore the baiting
Try to ignore the passive aggressive attacks steeped in a logic that is well and truly beyond me
Try to invoke the mental plonker (hypnotherapy has had mixed results)
Try to ignore the inane boasting
Try to ignore the spam
Try to ignore the hypocrisy
Try to ignore the language
I am noticing a trend here. Can you pick it out?

Emily / Technopatra....

In the face of new info, a person should be allowed to change their mind. When either of you respond to DVD's complaint above, I'm also asking for a conduct review on the same grounds.

While I hope one or both accounts are suspended even if it's for a day to get a message across, I will respect whatever decision is made. Thank you for considering my request.

I leave you guys alone for a week or so and look what happens.

OK...

This is the Case studies thread, not an arena for the nasty bitchfest that is the Badger/Isotopia/DVD show. Emily has politely asked you to stop all extraneous commentary. Now I am telling you. Everyone take a breather, and stay away from your keyboards for minute.

DVD's complaint, augmented by Tancorix's, is being reviewed by the admins. It's not a black 'n' white decision because you two have a long history of fighting with each other. Admit it, you've enjoyed sniping at each other, and with every missive you've each had the opportunity to just stop.

I unfortunately see no change in behavior, except that now DVD feels that since he was suspended for taking it too far, he feels that Badger should be punished as well. DVD took the turn into personal threats, which was the cause for his suspension. Badger has made the same noises he ever has, and DVD never complained before, even when I offered to take action against Badger before, which I did. Unless someone can point me to a URL that says differently, I have not seen Badger's behavior escalate beyond what he's always said. So there is a precedent of letting it go, not due to favoritism, but due to the lack of formal complaint from DVD. We generally do not take action without complaint.

Does this mean DVD can't change his mind and get fed up and want to complain now? Of course not. That's why the admins are reviewing it as a group and will let you know what we decide when we finish our discussion.

This is a tricky issue because you guys have been so nasty to each other for so long. On a personal note, it just irritates the bloody hell out of me because I know you guys in real life and you're both good-hearted people. You've both nurtured this nemesis relationship and when you knowingly push it too far you come to us to fix it instead of being the grownups I know you are capable of being.

Maybe I'm not being an objective admin in saying so, but honestly, it's this kind of melodramatic, pre-rational, ego-based behavior that makes me reconsider having any presence on this board, let alone remaining an admin.

I encourage you both to ruminate on personal responsibility during this break.

Go outside, get some air, go talk to people in real-life, play with your dog, whatever. Take a break and we will come back when everyone has cooled off and we have a decision.

whoa!

Poor TP. I totally forgot about this. Maybe I can help you catch up real quick.

I think things kinda got cleard up a few days ago on the POTD thread, which got kinda sumed up with the drama of the day thread.
I've been working and have'nt had time to post like I want nor read all of what's going on. I'm running 2 companies and just dont have as much time.

If you want, I say read POTD from about hereand I belive it will clear up some things. As far as Badger....Badger will be Badger it seems. I really dont care anymore.

thanks techonpatra, you always put into words what is tangled up in the knot in my stomach when i read these kinds of complaints or get too much insight into the drama on these boards. you rock.

thanks dvd for dropping it.

i would also like to add that the best way to bring up a formal complaint is to send email to the eplaya@ address with quotes and urls of the offending post(s) and the quoted section from the TOS or CG that you think the quotes/urls violates.

*whew*

thanks! it's fun when a photo looks like how you think you look.

i love using my own face on my avatar. i've actually had people ask me if i was on the eplaya... i also wonder every day i walk through the streets of black rock city... are any of these folks eplayans?

of course if i could just get my ass to the meet&greet one of these years, that would help.

Air America Radio Avatar

Post by Simply Joel » Mon Jan 31, 2005 6:23 am

Please review Cowboy Angel's avator to determine if it (Air America Radio) is a violation of the TOS.

Isn't Air America Radio a commercial enterprise?
and using it as an avatar something akin, if not specifically, advertising?

A fond farewell from Technopatra

Post by technopatra » Tue Feb 08, 2005 4:03 pm

Hello my fellow Eplayans-

The time has come for me to change out of my Eplaya Admin uniform and once again don my civvies. I'm now working full-time and just don't have the cycles to commit to working on the Eplaya anymore.

The lovely Ms. Sparkle will still be here, the rest of the Eplaya Admin team will still be in effect, and the tech team is ramping up to get some fresh PHP blood onboard to make those long-awaited improvements.
I'm going to take this opportunity to take a little break, then will be back lurking in a non-admin way.

You guys have inspired, irritated, inflamed, and slain me over the past 1.5 yrs with your hilarious stories, practical advice, impractical advice, bitchy little flame wars, timely counseling, appreciated check-ins, passionate politics, cited arguments, and more one liners than you can shake a stick at. For all the grief I got, there was a ton of sincere support, and I'd like to again thank everyone for contributing to this wild ride.

I also want to thank you for putting me through my paces. My experience here was a direct contributing factor to my getting my present job, which I love.

I odn't know if I can make it to the playa this year, but I'll be htere is inspirit, knowing I was privileged enough to be a part of the wonderful, exasperating community that has helped so many people be a part of it.

Go on over to the Bar and have one on me.

Love you guys-

~technopatra~

The eplaya administrative team has concurred on the following complaints lodged recently in the case studies thread.

1. Regarding the complaints of libel in http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... 632#129632:

The administrative team has sought legal counsel on this matter and see no reason to take action at this time. If the person(s) who are the target of these allegedly libelous claims ask us to reconsider this topic, we will. Libelous claims will only be considered when the target of the libel is asking the eplaya administrative team to review the case.

2. Regarding the complaint brought against Badger by Cardinal:

Cardinal was asked by the administrative team to cite specific quotes/urls of the offending post(s) and the TOS/CG passage(s) in violation. Since we have received no response, there will be no action taken at this time. From this point forward, no claim will be considered without quotes from both the offending post(s) and the TOS/CG passage(s) in violation.

3. Regarding the commerce complaint brought against The Fire Elf by Purple Koosh this thread:
http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... 327#137327

The administrative team has reviewed the posting and do not consider it commerce as it is simply a reference to a customer testimonial in an article on Tribe. The Fire Elf is not attempting to sell anything on the eplaya with this post. There will be no action taken at this time.

4. Regarding the commerce complaint brought against Cowboy Angel by Simply Joel and Bob for his Air America avatar:

The administrative team will take no take action in this case unless someone can prove that Cowboy Angel stands to profit from "advertising" Air America Radio. We consider this a product endorsement -- just like all the sunscreen/shade cloth/beverage/etc recommendations around here.

Finally, a request from the administrative team. Play nice with each other, because it's nice to be nice. The eplaya administrative team is not here to negotiate interpersonal conflict, and we would STRONGLY prefer to be as hands-off as possible. We ask -- no BEG -- the community to please police itself. Listen when others talk, don't cut down newcomers immediately because you think they're another one of the dizzying socks that lie around this laundry basket, and try to remember that if you have a problem with someone, it's your responsibility to work it out together without asking the administrators to get involved. Try t moderate your OWN behaviors. You know, like on most other boards. How did the expectations on the ePlaya get so ideological, so black and white?

Thank you for your time.

:) emily sparkle &
the eplaya administrative team

TOS VIOLATION: Air America Radio Avatar

Post by joel the ornery » Fri Feb 11, 2005 6:28 am

I continue to believe Cowboy Angel's avator "Air America Radio" is a violation of the TOS.

Air America Radio is a commercial enterprise, based upon commerce,
and using it as an avatar something akin, if not specifically, advertising.

I am aware that the admin folks don't agree with my position on this matter, however I am compelled to post my objections herein.
