More Rave, Less Anything?
More Rave, Less Anything?
I was amused to read an article in the local (East SF/Bay) weekly on my way home from work last night. Its author made several references to posts on the old eplaya, and even cited the number of posts in last year's "Less Rave, More Anything" thread as a "fact" to support a point he was trying to make. Needless to say, the use of that thread for anything other than pure entertainment gave me lots of, um, entertainment.

Ooooh! Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest! Should I submit it? Hmmm....Booker wrote:I got this far: "As the first crepuscular rays of a red dawn encroached on the inky darkness of the Nevada spacescape . . . " Good thing we didn't have any dark, stormy nights on the playa this year, eh?

Which is funny, because with few exceptions on the old eplaya, you
couldn't be anonymous because you had to provide a well-formed
email address to register. I suppose you could put in a bogus one,
but most didn't.
Here, you can actually post anonymously without logging in, and your
email address can be hidden. There's much more potential for
weirdness here.
I think he was alluding to the fact that people use pseudonyms (duh,
been on the Internet long?). He probably would have been happier if,
instead of precipitate, I registered with my full name. And put my home
phone on my profile.

In the old eplaya thread.. I think I freaked the most out is when one of the dj peeps said something about a band/group/whatever the fuck they are called.. that he likes to play when he was doing his set.
And I knew what that band was. ME?!?! The girl that doesnt do that rave thing. Iwas like fuck i'm so doomed now. I listen to something a rave dj plays.
Well how bout this one Rave dj' do any of you listen/play any Nortec Collective. If you dont.. i suggest you check it out. Fuck.. now i am giving advice to rave dj's... i need a drink. Oh wait.. theres one.

Barter
by Sara Teasdale
Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children’s faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.
Life has loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of gold,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit’s still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.
Spend all you have for loveliness,
Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost,
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
