The Muse's Idea Jar
Did your muse go on vacation without so much as a "see you later, I'll send a post card"?
Or maybe you're working on a project and are so excited about it that you want to share it with everyone.
Are you stuck on a project and can't seem to push it forward?
Or maybe your muse is working double time and you have so many ideas your brain might explode.
Wanna share with the rest of us? Here's the place to do it.

Actually, I had an idea. I asked Rob the Wop to call me because I trust his judgement but he never did. I dont want to post it "in the clear" since it is kindof a cacp sort of stunt ... pm me if you want to be my sounding board/partner in crime.

Ok, since I started this topic I thought maybe I should say a few things.
I know there has been talk about inspiration and the muse on other threads and I invite those people to continue to talk about that stuff here.
I find a lot of times that talking to other artists about there latest projects gets my creative juices flowing. It's rarely something similar to what they're working on, but it's like I can pick up and borrow some of that creative energy.
I don't mind sharing a few things I'm working on at the moment. Oh, and feel free to borrow and build off of these ideas.
I've been leaning towards crafty things lately. I'm sewing a messenger bag out of four different colors of corduroy (that all used to be pants, but I don't mind recycling cause they were all in pretty good shape). I cut out rectangles and squares and put them together in kind of a Mondrian un-pattern.
I've also worked on some wire beaded ornament things (see avatar). Kind of little ornaments that I might hang in a window to catch light. But, I got bored with that and have moved on to a tree thingie. (see bar for more details)
Hmmm, think that's it for now. Anyone who wants to bounce ideas off of me, I'm more than willing to listen. But please specify what type of feedback you're looking for. Thanks for reading.

environment satellite(Brightpathvideo, Jan 22) It’s about time that environmental and human rights groups pool their resources and invest in their own satellite surveillance system. Sound impossible? The newly elected Ukrainian government is looking to expand economic opportunity for itself. As the foremost developer of rocket booster technology for the old Soviet regime, Ukraine today is a serious partner in European satellite projects such as the “Sea Launch” program, for which they build the Zenit-3SL rocket. They may turn an ear to a serious proposal to build a surveillance satellite for a consortium of environmental groups. Such a “bird’ could be of great value for pinpointing the source of environmental catastrophes such as the mysterious oil spill that is killing thousands of sea birds right now off the California coast. Large scale human catastrophes, such as the genocide in Rwanda could have been identified and perhaps addressed if such a program were in place as well. No longer would governments be able to deny the misery that their military adventures inflict on innocent populations.

you know, I've always wanted to be someone's muse....
I think I've come close... I had a boyfriend in college who would write amazing songs for me...
There's something that's very attractive to having something--that ONE THING--that inspires creativity in others. I've always harboured this desire... to be someone's muse... but tend to put it really far back in myelf, because somehow, it seems vain. Don't know why I'm spilling it here, actually... maybe it's because I haven't had enough coffee this morning yet, and my defenses are down.
Maybe it's the hopeless romatic in me: to be someone that inspires art... wow... not romantic in a relationship sort of way, but those romantic ideals...
for me, personally, it's not so much about finding a muse--I've got her--but about having someone to prod me along a bit... raise my expectations of myself... give me a bit of courage to take the plunge...
oof. babbling.
off to get more coffee...

*big sigh*
oh, the muse.
So I had been bitching for months about hating my stupid boring job, and then I quit, not knowing what in the world I was going to do to take care of myself and my family. Then the universe conspired to take care of all those pesky details (like bills) in the form of a fat income tax return. Now I have, all of a sudden an opportunity to realize a dream of mine...... to write, complete with a venue for my work!
I'm scared silly. What if I find out I don't have *it* in me??? I think this is the reason alot of what I most want to do has not heretofore come to fruition: big fat fear of failure.
ooof, rambling. more coffee......

Sounds like a potential for self-fulfilling prophecy (fear of failure). Nothing to fear but fear itself, m'dear.

One of several pieces of advice given to me by my first welding instructor:
"If it was easy, everybody'd do it."
giggles (and anyone else for that matter), the things I've accomplished so far have mostly been because I was too crazy to know I couldn't do it, and so believing that I could, I did.
If another human is doing it, so can you.

The movie "The Muse" was pretty funny, too. (AMUSING, I mean....)
I'm stuck trying to come up with EL wire creations to populate the top level of the triple-dome structure that I'm bringing....In what may be my only concession to this year's theme, I was going to make the top dome (an almost-sphere, six feet across) the "brain" sphere and have sparky, blinky little neuronlike widgets zipping and popping around inside....

GE, I hear ya. On the few occasions that I've had a song or poem or whatnot written for me, it's been flooring, and, mostly, humbling.
On the my-creative-juices-flowed topic, I wrote two new songs yesterday. I'm really pleased with one in particular. I think i found a way to communicate, simply, an experience that i've been trying to put into that format for a year.
Spending time with other musicians does this to me. I guess Saturday's show, loopy as it was, was good on a lot of fronts.
Looks like I'm playing a benefit on the 28th, so i can try them out on an unsuspecting audience.

Msky. I have lots of glass pendants that are maybe 1/4 to 3/4 inches long with little wire loops coming out of them. I was originally going to try and make earrings with them. Does this sound like something you'd like to work with?blueniteowl wrote: I've also worked on some wire beaded ornament things (see avatar). Also, the tree you were talking about may come from a similier idea as the Give a Gift/Take a Gift tree I'd like to make for e-playa camp. And then there was the little bedside table tree that would have little clips to hold condoms.

I'd be interested in the pendants if you are willing to share. I'm experimenting a lot lately with beads and pendants.theCryptofishist wrote:Msky. Pm your address. I take forever to get round to things, so it may be awhile. But I'm really looking forward to clearing out the space. Are you at all interested in seed beeds? I've got some that I don't want to donate to the virgin art project--too small to find and therefore very proto-MOOP. And I have some larger pendants as well.

Yes, the prod, GE, I need one of those too! So many ideas that never make it out of the brain...
Right now I want to get one of those latch hooking tools and make a big latch hooked area rug out of fluffly, fluffy wool so I can roll around on it and be all snuggly. And pillows too, in pretty colours. I used to do latch hooking for hours and hours when I was young, it was one of my favourite crafts.
At this moment my muse would have to be the big windows at my new home and the amount of light I get. My old home is in the trees, up against a hillside and rather dark. Now I'm wanting more and more colours and brightness and textures because they are so much more visible.
