Raise a glass to Anno Domini 1665, the "Year 100,000 Died" in London of the Bubonic Plague.

In that light, Rodent's reapperence is somewhat sinister. . .

No, actually. I just have this association of significant numbers and in the teens that's gonna be 2nd millienium dates. I was a morbid little 13 year old who read all about the plague. Chock full of unwholesome stuff like people trying to beat their own brains out and molesting plague corpses.

Note: I didn't come by this all on my lonesome. My mother had taken me to Eyam when I was 8 or 9.

yipes. not only did they have to deal with the plague, but it was a lead mining town as well. Reminds me of a village in Ireland on the River Shannon I visited when I was about that age that was filled with dwarves. Right fucked with the child's mind, that did.

Ach. Me Bass is dry. Must go rustle 'round the ice box.

I gotta go soon. i was hoping to be able to raise a glass to the fire as well--1666 and almost no one died. Plus they blamed "the Papists." That's pretty wholesome. So salute me when you get tehre.

Fishy, read Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle (Trilogy)... it deals with those years, Sir Isaac Newton, Boyle, Hooke, etc. Great book...

In honor of the Plague, I'll have .... um.... dunno.... scotch?

... I need to get a little more creative here....

Do you know a drink called a 'stormcloud'?

1 part amaretto
1 part bacardi 151
1 part irish cream (add slowly, and last)

serve in a wine glass
