never cook lots of onions in a small apartment.
so now you know what it feels like to be French.
believe me, to be French is far more smelly than a few onions, and on many fronts...

Easy nuff'. Get some mushrooms, butter, and garlic. Sautee the living crap out of them. Then your apartment will smell like garlic. Which, in my opinion, is never a bad thing.

Plus you get a bunch of sauteed mushrooms out of the deal.
are you really truly evil? ohh, wait, fucking referencing the fact that bloodsuckers don't like garlic, please disregard.

Fuck! update: Mom made it through the other night and has steadliy improved the last two days. The doctors did not expect this at all. They pulled 700 ml of fluid out of both lungs (very visual, ick), and the infection is decreasing. She's still very, very sick and on a respirator, but the crisis of the other day when we were warned she was dying is over. Not that she couldn't just up and die on us, but the possibility has shifted from "any minute" to "eventually, but this could take a while."

I feel like I've been on a fucking roller coaster. I fucking hate roller coasters. Fucking feel like I'm holding my fucking breath for the next big dip.

Thanks for all the warm words and huggeses. Hugges back atcha all.

Fuck, and I mean that in a good way.

^Glad to hear it, AM. Hang in there....^

***

Fuck. I hate ending a Friday being PISSED OFF.

actiongrl may well be right... and i don't know how to open my maw about how pissed off I am without looking like an ass. I guess I just figured that a certain amount of support, sending-of-good-juju, and sympathy is pretty forthcoming from this group whenever something shitty happens. And we don't usually dwell on it that much in conversation. It just seems to me that that's how this particular crew works. I think it's safe to assume that when anyone posts with something really hurting them, physically or emotionally, people give a shit.

It squeezes me the wrong way to be told that since we're not being properly sympathetic in the *right* way, then we're somehow failing (and as BM examples no less).

She's probably right, to some extent. But there's something oh-so-fuck!-inducing about being lectured on our methods of conversation.

Maybe i'm really just pissed because the ugliness of this whole fucking thing - for dennis and for everyone else - was not a taste i wanted to 'savor' again.

Fuck. I better wait to drive or i'm gonna have road rage.

I hear you, RJ. Don't know how I feel about it myself. In some really simplistic way I wish the op of the recent thread had put in a synopsis. Just to remind us of the circumstances. It's often a little wierd, getting the bits and pieces, like the way I dropped the ball yesterday in the bar re: uberwench.

I think I would go so far as to say that i wish the OP had made one thread, and reused it, about the whole saga. That way it could all be looked at easily. Instead it's split up all over.

Do a post search for him and you'll find it.

Same op? Then yes. If it was someone else then I'm willing to stipulate that they didn't know of the first thread. f*ckin tweets

The Op has only 2 threads related to the topic. Less than most posters on this board.

I agree with Actiongirl up to a point, and then I diverge strongly...

Dennis got fucked up at Bman... but now they have caught the bad guy. Good. I hope they fuck him up the same way that he fucked up Dennis... anything less is less than true justice...

But, I don't care for thread Nazi's, whether they be DVD, Rian, Joel, CBA, BHA, or even Actiongirl...

Thread drift happens, folks... it's all a part of the creative community that is BM, and if Admin condemns it, they are (essentially) trying to corral and turn the creative energy to a narrow definition... which, to me, smacks of the Index, and Fascism... but, then again, I am sensetive to those issues....

We are all pleased that Dennis' assailant was caught, and we all hope that justice is done... but I'll be goddamed if I will feel guilty because I didn't say that often enough, or went off on another tangent. A psychic mugging by the Admin, although not as hard on the body, is just as hard on the psyche...

Good luck Dennis... leave me my thoughts Admin...

I am SO fucking tired of this....

I spent two hours on the bus to get to my temp assignment at the campus bookstore...only to be told that they were closing at 4 today, and I didn't need to come in. (The fucking agency called to tell me this, but I was already on the road, and didn't bother to give my husband a message to relay. Never MIND that they have my cell number on file....)

Why was I on the bus? Because Sammi's in the shop. I limped in with her earlier today (literally - one of the belts snapped as I was driving over), and was quoted $170 parts & labor. This was a little painful, but it wasn't all of Doug's paycheck - just most of it.

Except they called back to say my water pump had seized. $300 parts & labor. I don't know if that's including the original estimate, or in addition to it - the folks at the shop do excellent work, but English isn't anyone's first language there, and understanding them over the phone is challenging at best. Either way, it's more than is currently in the bank.

And the rent is still outstanding. We've already gotten a Notice to Pay Rent or Quit the last four months, with a follow-up "tomorrow we call the eviction lawyer" note in January; looks like we're headed there again....

Anonymous benefactors are welcome to send donations to this username (at) dmvhotties (dot) com - but Christ only knows if I'll ever be able to offer any of you anything in return but my undying gratitude.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go get exceedingly fucking drunk.

FUCK, what a day!

Not once, but TWICE today, I got stuck in traffic behind two separate cars that were PLASTERED...Wallpapered, even, with anti-abortion bumper stickers. And not just the reasonably innocuous ones like "Abortion stops a beating heart," but shit like "Abortion: the Ultimate Child Abuse," "If it's not a baby then you're not pregnant," "Abortion Sucks," "Abortion is Mean" (on one car, that was there TWICE) and "Pro-Choice is NO Choice."

Then I spot a huge billboard on West 11th that shows a child and says, "Abortion stops a beating heart...what about MY choices?"

Okay, then I land in a parking lot to do a grocery errand, wind up next to ANOTHER one like that. I won't even go into that because I'm still hackled up over it. Then I go into the store and guess what? I think I found the owners of the car because here comes a mob, two parents, five, maybe six kids (I didn't want to see more).

Now, for their credit, the kids looked cheerful, healthy, well-loved and were certainly better-behaved than the general run of the single-digit-aged contingent. But you know what? One of the big reasons I decided to sit out the reproduction dance this time around is because I wanted to do something concrete about the overpopulation problem. And it just frosts my cake to no end when I see gigantic families like that. That admittedly well-behaved brood cancelled out my sacrifice twice over.

On top of that, I understand there's an anti-abortion group starting up here that wants to exclude abortion and birth control from the Oregon Health Plan, which serves as medical coverage for the low- and limited-income of this state. They want to take birth control away from the group that needs it the most.

Whatever happened to "Every child a wanted child?"

Hang in there, Babe... Nature has it's own reply to all this reproduction.. and it will be effective.. no matter how ugly it gets ....

Yeah, Sam, that's just fucking it...it's the "ugly" I don't want to see. When rabbits overpopulate they literally eat their young. I don't want to see our children sitting in the dust, their empty bellies bloated, past crying out in hunger.

I want to say to people like that, "Did you know that birth will over time cancel out a thousand acres of wildlife habitat? You want to give your grandchildren a world where they can only see animals in a zoo or a book?"

An idea for a rebuttal bumper sticker: "Abortion is child abuse and so is overpopulation."
