I may have to take that image and make a few signs of it to post on the guard booth. I will also be preparing probably stickers of some sort to essentially stamp peoples papers. I also have a link at home for inexspensive solar lights and will hopefully remember to post it tonight. I plan on using a few of them to light up the guard shack at night.

Ditto that. Last year we had a tough time, although we were promised an early set up, we had our crew turned away at the gate on Friday. We only got admitted on the Saturday prior because of Hagey's political connections and the Burner Hostel history with the LLC. They promise to have it better organized this year, certainly something the good Kernul should look in to as it takes a good two days to stage and set up a theme camp properly.

Hopefully that'll translate into even less people getting through the cracks under the pretense of setting up with a camp. Last year was a marked improvement over 2003 but there were still a few lame-o's that got through the cracks.

Yes. I would recommed a letter from one of the "high-ups" in the LLC with a signature and list of real names that can be copied, and delivered in person and verified by photo ID at the gate. One of our group got turned away because just such a letter had his playa first name and real last name and the dufus at the gate refused to believe it was him because the first name was different on his driver's license.

Why not get an actual rubber stamp made, sammich? it doesn't cost too much. I got an embossing seal made at a stamp specialty store in my home town for under thirty bucks. Rubber stamps can be made for even much less. I saw a place advertising them for about six bucks. It would be funny if you didn't let anyone pass without getting SOMETHING stamped.

The only reason I was thinking of stickers is to allow something to be brought home. The stamp I think is a good idea because the name of my piece is the Navel Inspection Station. So I could inspect all bely buttons and stamp the approval. Maybe have an alternate stamp for those that are smuggling belly lint.

You don't need a stamp...you just need to hit harder.

No, surly, it was an online place. One of the first results when I goodled (or maybe froogled) "custom rubber stamps" There are loads of places that'll do it for not very much..and if you only need one you can get pretty fancy for probably under a score.

Perhaps you could email me a pic of one of them so as to see the possibilities. Perhaps placing them face in, inside a small box with the solar light fitted inside.

Play out the paranoia idea with this-- it seems to be right.

I was thinking of getting some of the solar powered lights- they only seem to need a dusting off of the photoelec panel now and then.

So many projects, so little time.
They included a broken one for free that I am experimenting with. I tried drilling out little holes and putting colored LED's in the pupils, but it kind of messed up the illusion.

I'm thinking of painting the inner face a fresh white and the surrounding frame black. Then, on a flixible coat hangar wire, mount the white LED from the solar landscape light facing back to the mask like the light on a lantern fish. We could mount them in cardboard boxes also painted black with the solar panel on top and nicad batteries and charge circuit inside... unless you have an idea for the "positive" mask image that faces our camp. Mount the whole thing on black PVS pipe, secured by rebar stuck in the ground. Some of my favorite art is simple.

Still, some nice work there, Iso. Especially "3,2,1", posted to the Hall of Truth.

Call it hubris but I'm still chuckling at 'Sometimes People Get Hurt.'

Iso... the chuckling... me too-- love that one.

Maniac- thanks for posting that one, I got it as a pdf originally, and was not able to swing it to a jpg for some dern reason.

I like the fact that this has become something of an "art" gallery.

Outstanding, Maniac! Did you design "Revolt" from the ground up?
