Finally got that signature to work properly. Lugubrious is a great word. I'm also a big fan of "facetiously," as it is, to my knowledge, the only word in the English language containing all vowels in alphabetical order. Including, sometimes, y.

As opposed to dressing up in rubber hose, high heels, EL wire, and really drinking in the desert for a week is in fact quite sane?

Ok...

This thread, not this board, this thread seems to me to be the closest thing to the event that can exist in this way... bringing together people who would otherwise not at all meet. We get to come here and act out aspects of our personalities that we might only be able to do on the real playa (if even then). This thread, at least to me, seems to me to be causing more interactions and real relationships to form than any other thread on this borad. Now I may be wrong about that, but one thing I’m absolutely certain of is this:

This thread has made me want to be a part of the eplaya again. This thread has introduced me to more people, and on a more personal level that any other part of this board ever did and I’ve been checking in here for a good bit now. I come back to this thread because it causes people to interact and tell about themselves in ways that wouldn’t be possible other wise. Unless maybe we were on the playa in drag and had our inhibitions lowered because of the absurdity of it.

This thread goes, then I’m betting a lot of really fine people will go with it. Too bad. I’d have loved to have this as an interaction point when I first came to this board. I’m unsure of the logic behind something like that.
I love this thread too.

All I can say is that I wasn't overwhelmed by it. I jumped right in. I think it boils down to personality. If you shy, then your shy. And changing it to a chat room wouldn't make much of a difference.

And here, here LeChat. I've made some lovely friendships as well that wouldn't have happened without the bar. Plus, I like the fact that the bar is unstructured that way the conversation can ebb and flow and no one bitchs about thread drift.
I'm shy. Although maybe not cybershy.

You know... in actuality, If someone “in charge” wants to change it, no amount of talk from me is gonna make a difference... assuming their mind is made up, you know. So whatever will be will be, I reckon.

I just have to think that Larry Harvey would have to be grinning like hell at the way this thread has gotten people to talk and interact.

We play and pretend on the playa, we play and pretend in here. Seems no different to me.

And I hereby encourage all newbies to come in here, and the "Hello, what's your name..." thread and say “Hi”. If you're shy, then say howdy to me first. I'm a shy person too, in reality. It's hard to just barge into a new place... fear of rejection and all that. I understand this much better than one might think from reading this thread alone. Read some of my posts from way back.

Hope it's just a rumor, and I'll just treat it as such until I find out otherwise.
Would an occasional stop by the "Hello introduce yourself" thread with an explination help? Could we adapt the "Index" thread as sort of an introduction to the highlights?

It's a dyeing process where you put wax on cloth before dyeing it so that it doesn't "take" in some places.

Fuckwits. I'm listening to my favorite radio station (an alt-rock/punk station), and a local TV station is advertising the Doctor Phil show. Talk about barking up the wrong tree.

Uh-hmmm...

(Pointing to the sign on the wall written in letters that are slightly scrawled out):

Though I no longer subscribe to the commercialism of holidays, I still feel it important to mark them for both those here now and for posterity’s sake. So with that in mind, I'd like to say:

WISHING ALL THE LOVELY, BEAUTIFUL EPLAYA LADIES A WONDERFUL, STUPENDOUS, FANTABULOUS VALENTINES DAY!!

(there's a big red heart with a black paw print in the middle at the bottom)

Watch that paw, I used magic ink... it'll reach out and give you a squeeze if you get close enough, but I think its got a mind of its own so use caution.

And I’m not a Minnesoten, fishy... though I’ve had many strange connections the past few years to people from that region.

Ok... gone again!!
