Wind ramps and giles

Post by unjonharley » Fri Feb 18, 2005 12:47 pm

I have used a 10x10 easy-up for shade and plan to this year. I will sew a new top out of unbleached cotton. The old one held the heat and wind in. The plan is sew in giles that will let the wind pass through carrying the heat out. When the wind dies down wieghts will pull them closed. The van will be tarped and form the back wall. Then two side walls of cotten. This where the "wind-ramps" come in. By standing a 6ft upright pole at each end of a wall (6in. back from the wall) then attach a tarp between poles. Stake the tarp to the ground at a 45to the wall.

I had plans to put passive solor fans on the van. Now I see where they will work on the shade. They would work great on fully covered dome.
