When I was in bootcamp (Navy) we wore dark blue dungaree pants and light blue chambray shirts and we would have to go around sweeping different areas around the barracks. We would always say, "We're going Smurfing".

What's everyone drinking tonight?
BTW, deep fried okra is da bomb!

Ever had fried pickles? Quite tasty. Gotta be a southern thing, surely.

I don't think so, Z. The kids here have next week off school too and who ever heard of hockey in San Jose ( a little friendly jab at Sharks fans).

I met a guy from San Jose when I was in Guam for the Navy. He was there with the Navy too. I had my Minnesota Wild jersey hanging in my room and he co-conspired with my roomie to replace it with his San Jose Sharks jersey. It was quite humorous!!

We haven't used it since Sunday. Now that it's back in the teens outside, I am not going to get my friends out for a while. We did discover a HUGE pile of discarded Christmas trees in a village lot down by the beach which we plan to assemble into some kind of structure and set afire (!) Oh boy is that going to be good. I just hope the highway department doesn't put 'em through the chipper before we get to them.

We have a "Burning" at one of my friends house once a year or so. Large burning pile. "Keep throwing more stuff in!" "Quick, get the hose!"
Much fun...!!

goes well. Tomorrow i just only have a training run. I think 8 -10 miles.
Tomorrow is marathon training only I do my stairclimb training during the week. Today I did a lot of leg muscle work on the machines. On one of the machines just for kicks i did a small set of a really high weight (3 reps only) it was about 200 pounds. Its one that you sit and push with your legs. I just wanted to see if i could do it. Its neat pushing that much weight around.

Then I did my normal amount of weight for 2 (15 rep) sets.

ooh hands are tired to. glad typing doesnt require that much effort.

I have to run a mile and a half and I can't make that so I give you a big HATS OFF to you on your training for stairs and Marathon!! Have you ever run in Grandma's Marathon in MN? It seems to be a popular one.
Any hints on how I might start training for a mile and a half?

thats a couch to 5k (3.1 miles) training schedule. Its a good one and I have known a lot of people to do that. But pretty much start slow, work up to it. And when it says run...its not a full out sprint, probably more like a jog.

Never did the MN marathon... yet. I got 3 this year. So its out for this year. But There is always next. I'm gonna start planning out my marathoning for next year pretty soon. I kinda wanna do the big sur one. that just looks so damn fabulous.
