Post by tonytohono » Thu Feb 17, 2005 2:18 pm

and everything that I believe Burning Man stands against, lives and flourishes on this board. I'm sick of it. Precipitate and his bullshit, along with his supporters did it for me.

Peace on you. I'm gone.

no reason to leave Tony, all the more to stay and input good stuff like your art and photos and commentary. I have a feeling that quite a few good people have left the board over feelings like yours, and I know some, if the trend continues, then what's left? Thanks for airing this. You're right. I imagine there are a few people who come here to see what Burningman "people" are like. I don't think the board is quite up to the lofty aura that the parent org exhibits....ask the founder what he thinks of eplaya....I'm sure you will be very interested.
With that, I once again submit my web page on some of the incredible people I met at Burning Man last year

For the record,

um, He is actually a she.

She comes over here when she is upset with one thing or another.
I know I make jokes with her but she doe not make all of Burningman.
dont let people like that scare you or piss you off T.

And no, Tony is not me. You really insulted Tony by confusing Tony with me.

That sounds really strange huh?

What makes you think that Burning Man stands against hate?

Seriously.
It's not that I hate you. It's just that I'm a much better person than you.

The Man doesn't have a pulse. It's a bunch of sticks.

Where's the "Love"? The crew of builders puts a heart on the Man, signed by all the builders. But it represents the pride of those who worked together building it, not love.

Likewise, just as there's no crying in Baseball, there's no love in DPW. There is Radical Mercy, though. Unlike the eplaya, when we evict assholes, they don't keep coming back under an alias.

As for the Burning Man event -- as the ticketholders are fond of saying, "it's what you make it".

It's true that Larry thinks the eplaya is crap. Same as the mailing lists, Tribe, whatever. Years ago before the software changeover he wanted to turn the eplaya into something like the Well or the Salon board, with essay pieces and heavily moderated discussion, but they went the route of posting a few My Summer At Burning Man pieces on the main site instead. But Larry's all about monologue, not community discussion, and he's never seen the community as particularly literate.

The eplaya requires no love at all. It "exists to support the Burning Man community", and "a variety of viewpoints are both expected and encouraged". Get used to it.

i completely disagree. i have felt a lot of love on here, and i have met a bunch of great people, and had some neat discussions about things burningman and not so burningman, and i've also killed some time just fucking around, and pretending to party, which is actually kind of fun, but at the same time it is about being a part of something, something that stands for something, and i thought that was radical inclusion.

everyone and anyone is welcome to join me on tribe at The New Electronic Playa - just in case this board goes south as predicted. i would hate to lose touch with new friends over old bullshit.

That was sarcasm, not the way I feel. I happened to see the shirt when someone posted me a link to another shirt and I browsed around a bit. I saw that shirt and it made me chuckle and I posted the link in here.

Eplaya needs more love. Too many people work too hard for it not to get any to share.
